Paycor functions as a comprehensive Human Capital Management (HCM) system, primarily used by organizations for payroll processing, benefits administration, and tax filing. It also serves as a critical tool for recruiting, onboarding, and time and attendance tracking, centralizing vital employee information. In TrustRadius reviews, users widely commend the platform for its overall ease of use and intuitive interface, alongside its efficient and accurate payroll processing capabilities, which often handle large staff numbers.

Reviewers also note improvements in reporting tools, including AI integration, and effective self-service onboarding processes. However, a significant concern is customer support, with 41% of users reporting slow response times and perceived lack of expertise. Limitations in reporting customization and general platform flexibility are also frequently cited, alongside reports of frequent bugs and occasional slow system performance. Despite these areas for improvement, Paycor generally delivers a positive return on investment through operational efficiencies and reduced administrative workloads.

  • Intuitive user interface for administrators and employees
  • Efficient and accurate payroll processing for large staff numbers
  • Flexible and compliant payroll features
  • Effective self-service options for new hire onboarding
  • Improving reporting tools with AI integration
  • Slow response times and perceived lack of expertise from customer support
  • Limitations in reporting customization and data extraction
  • Lack of general platform customization and flexibility
  • Frequent bugs and glitches disrupting access and payroll accuracy
  • Occasional slow or choppy system performance

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Paycor every aspect. I use the payroll processing. I use the recruitment software and the learning development

Pros

  • Payroll processing and seeing the paycheck views
  • User friendly front page
  • East clock in and out

Cons

  • Recruiting and offer process
  • Timesheets are horrible
  • We need a dedicated account manager again
  • Problem solving requires a ticket and then the problem doesn't get solved
  • Antiquated platforms like the recruiting platform and the benefits platform for running reports is old and difficult to use

Likelihood to Recommend

I recommend Paycor for payroll it's the easiest

Robust and Comprehensive HCM Platform.

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Paycor for most processes I manage: job applicant tracking and management, onboarding, payroll, timekeeping, and benefits management. We also use Paycor for quarterly performance reviews. It is very helpful that everything is housed under the same platform and that our staff can update their information on their own.

Pros

  • On-demand training webinars (on products or various compliance topics).
  • Paygrid/Payroll.
  • Benefits Management with file feeds.
  • Onboarding wizard.

Cons

  • Search ability of the knowledge base could be improved.
  • Resolution of simple issues can sometimes take a couple of weeks.
  • Report building isn’t very intuitive.

Likelihood to Recommend

Paycor has robust payroll functionality and can accommodate all my needs, including gross-up checks, bonus checks, and customized checks for one-off situations. I can also easily void and reissue checks. I would say the functionality I am not comfortable with is report building. Basic reporting is easy, but I don’t have the ability to sort or customize reports as much as I’d like.

Paycor Review SHRM

Rating: 6 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Main HRIS and payroll processing system. Document storage. Performance. Time. Rewards.

Pros

  • Easy to move around in
  • Easy to address compliance warnings
  • Single sign on feature

Cons

  • Setup isn’t particularly easy to understand
  • Benefits administration tool could be more seamless
  • Some parts of the system don’t talk to each other (leaves, scheduler, etc)
  • Rewards system is good, but not great.

Likelihood to Recommend

Paycor is more for mid-size companies, under 500. With 1500+ employees we seem to have to have a lot of workarounds and we’re communicating with Paycor on a lot of issues regularly.

Paycor Review.

Rating: 6 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Paycor is our company's HRIS. It is used for everything from onboarding, recruiting, applicant tracking, benefits, performance management, compensation, payroll, and additional personal information collection, such as address, direct deposit information, emergency contact, and assignment within the company.

Pros

  • Stores necessary employee information, including position, compensation, DOB, SSN, and address.
  • Custom Reports.
  • Performance Module.

Cons

  • Functionality is a bit clunky and not always user friendly.
  • Benefit module reporting could be improved.
  • Pulling historical information such as position change & compensation change.

Likelihood to Recommend

Paycor is helpful to keep everything in one place. As an HR Professional, I spend the majority of my days in Paycor. I pull many reports and find the custom reports to be very helpful.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize Paycor for our payroll and ATS. The product has made both of those aspects of our business run smoother and more cohesively. I utilize the ATS most and it has been a very productive experience from the beginning and the support team has been great in providing me with any assistance I need at any time.

Pros

  • Cohesive
  • Easy to use
  • Easy to understand

Cons

  • Network speed
  • More customization options
  • Small QOL changes

Likelihood to Recommend

Paycor is a perfectly suitable program that meets our HR needs.

Paycor Pros and Cons

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Paycor for HRIS, ATS, LMS, and Performance Management. The Performance Management tools has been my favorite Paycor product.

Pros

  • Performance Management and 1:1 tracking
  • Integrating ATS and HRIS into one platform

Cons

  • The ATS could benefit from better analytics and reporting features.
  • We are on the legacy platform - support for this is very limited

Likelihood to Recommend

Because we are on the legacy platform, it is hard to know if the support is what it should be. Additionally, I believe we have outgrown the capabilities of the ATS.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

HRIS, managing our employee profiles, hiring and terminating EEs, recruiting and applicant tracking. Payroll services and benefits integrations both retirement and medical benefits. We also have the Learning management system. We moved to Paycor to ensure seamless integration of all HR and payroll functions. This goal has been achieved but it took a lot of work and initial startup challenges.

Pros

  • Payroll
  • Integrations
  • Chat support

Cons

  • Applicant tracking
  • Performance review
  • Customization
  • Implementation support

Likelihood to Recommend

Payroll is primary need and basic HRIS needs with limited customization needs. Not appropriate for orgs that desire or need highly customization and require HR experience and knowledge.

Paycor is a Good Choice

Rating: 6 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Paycor as an all in 1 HRIS system/time management system/payroll management system. It provides us with all services in one application. We don't need to integrate multiple systems for these 3 items and that makes it easier for us. It also has other capabilities which we have not started using yet like performance management and applicant tracking.

Pros

  • Paycor's payroll system is fairly easy to use with plenty of accessible support.
  • Paycor's Employee management side is easy for both HR to manage and make corrections as well as the employees to access and make personal corrections.
  • Paycor's attendance tracking system is easy to access for both employees, managers, and HR. It is easy for managers to receive reports and make corrective actions in accordance with the reports.

Cons

  • Paycor has a lot of room for improvement when it comes to system implementation. This was the worst implementation I have ever been through. We never really received apologies for how bad it went, everyone just sort of ghosted out company.
  • Paycor's reporting could use some improvements. There are just some reports that don't work. It would be nice if paycor had a dedicated report building department that could tailor some company specific reports for us. That would be extremely helpful but also give them an opportunity to add to their standard templates and grow the library as time went on and they received more requests for similar reports.
  • Paycor could work on fixing whatever issue keeps out company from being able to verify using out own company account with historical data as opposed to creating a whole new account. Oh and fix their WOTC reporting features since we had to deactivate it to get out onboarding to complete.

Likelihood to Recommend

Paycor is well suited for a smaller company or a company that already has a lot of systems in place regardless of the HRIS system. Sometimes things won't work so it works well for a company that can get by without things being perfect. Paycor is a great company for the price that you pay. It isn't as robust as "the big guys", but if you need a good system and funds are limited it is a really good option. When all of the functions work, you get far more for far less money.

Has Potential

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We consolidated seven systems into this one. It has helped simplify where employees should go to manage their information. We are also looking forward to implementing the performance management piece of this system. We also were seeking better reporting options compared to what we were previously offered through Paychex Flex.

Pros

  • Searching the Menu
  • Offering Several Options

Cons

  • Customer Support
  • Detail Orientation
  • Implementation

Likelihood to Recommend

The sales person was very genuine and solution oriented. It feels like we are settling with the rest of the team we are being helped by. After having these experiences, it seems like we should remove systems and instead hire full time support internally. We hope this can get better, but it’s a bit exhausting to be “validated” and not make the essential changes.

Riddled with bugs Merge with Paychex going terribly

Rating: 1 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Paycor serves as our centralized HCM supporting payroll, HR operations, benefits, and workforce management. We use the platform to manage employee lifecycle changes such as hires and terminations, leaves and payroll.

Pros

  • Payroll is on time

Cons

  • Report builder often broken & difficult to use
  • I feel premium support (additional cost) is inexperienced & hard to reach
  • Limited system customization options
  • Nowhere to store bonuses or equity information in pay modules
  • Long wait times (8 weeks) for tax issues
  • Inaccurate tax filings
  • Constant bugs in all modules
  • Incredibly slow IT / product response time (months)

Likelihood to Recommend

Paycor may be suited for businesses under 50 employees who want a simple system and are not bothered by the manual workload when items go wrong. Paycor is not suited for any company with over 200 employees. Often, in my experience, their solution will be a manual one and voiding 200+ checks individually because of a Paycor error is not pleasant. In my experience, every update brings new bugs and system issues. I believe Paycor's own customer support are ill informed and often I find myself educating them on their own system.
