There is clear expansion capabilities to integrate it as a true Enterprise toolset with existing organisation wide (not just delivery) - you can pick and choose what you need to implement and that list gets longer. The ability to quickly gain an understanding of resources within the overall portfolio and some really clever tools regarding capacity and demand modelling.
I think the only challenge we have encountered is modelling our Business as Usual activity to a level of detail - this is due to other tools being very embedded not just in the organisation but across a lot of industries.

There's a lot that Planview Portfolios offers and as an admin there's quite a few features that can be customised, particularly with user access grants.
Planview Portfolios is a pivotal solution which is being leveraged by our team. Every single, idea (prospective Project) and project pipeline, timelines, approvals etc, are all managed in the portfolios.
Second, my used feature is the dashboarding and reporting capabilities and adaptability. We are extensively using power bi to showcase trends and we even created a forecast model to identify the next financial year's workload.

We use Portfolios for capital portfolio optimization, reporting and analytics, and enterprise project and portfolio management. We integrate it with our ERP systems and with Planview AgilePlace and Projectplace for multiple use cases/processes.
Portfolios are great for managing large portfolios of projects, especially projects with detailed schedules and dependencies. I would not recommend it for smaller projects due to the amount of required setup. Also, it's not an ERP system- the accounts are only summaries of expenses.
We use Planview Portfolios for managing all Capital and most Expense Projects including annual planning, ongoing execution, resource management, and financial data forecasting and actuals tracking.
Planview Portfolios is a strong application for Enterprise-Level project/resource data input and tracking. Configuration is relatively easy to learn compared to other tools; however, it does take some time investment. It is not a good fit for users looking for something with Excel-like flexibility and is not particularly suited to robust document management.
