A nice tool for testing website exit-intent popups

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I used Poptin to set up exit intent popups across the website. We wanted to turn traffic that bounces off the site into leads by showing them what they are missing. Any B2B SaaS will find creating exit-intent popups and targeting them for visitors as a good CRO experiment. Also, I see value in the feature to create A/B tests and see results on the same tool without using spreadsheets.

Pros

  • Exit intent popups across key pages of the website where bounce is high
  • Showing the popup only to desktop visitors and not for mobile users
  • No-code editor that anyone in the team can use

Cons

  • The tool did not have an option to add a Hubspot form into the popup. This makes it kind of difficult as it only lets us to add a button on the popup as CTA. Only additional action needed from the visitor.
  • The design templates could have been a bit more distinct. I felt they were more visually similar, so we had to have a designer work on designs that we have to upload.
  • UI could have been better.

Return on Investment

  • We did see some good conversions from the exit intent popup we had set up on key pages.
  • Seeing the results, we created exit intent popups across the website.
  • We did meaningful experiments with different copy on the popups.
