Great platform for those looking to simplify tech stack.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Klaviyo for all of our email, sms, and customer database management. We do everything from curating B2C and B2B marketing campaigns and retargeting campaigns to different flows, customer sign-up forms, and pretty much anything Klaviyo has to offer. We try to use the platform for everything so we can keep all customer interactions within one ecosystem.

  • List management.
  • Connected ecosystem.
  • Form management.

  • Connect with more "custom" non shopify platforms.
  • Integrate with Hubspot.
  • More AI driven design elements.

Return on Investment

A must-have for Shopify-backed websites

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I advocated for Klaviyo at my previous work, and we migrated to it from Campaign Manager. Our website was built with Shopify, so the integration with Klaviyo unlocked valuable customer insights and purchasing signals which we used for segmentation and automated email journeys. Apart from improved customer retention and increased AOV, we enjoyed a user-friendly email builder and opportunity to use dynamic values (last purchased product, total spend, etc.). Klaviyo is a must-have for marketers who have their e-commerce sites built with Shopify.

Pros

  • Customer segmentation based on purchasing behaviour
  • Complex automated email journeys with multiple IF conditions
  • Intuitive email builder with dynamic values
  • Extreme personalization of the email builder where some sections of the email can be displayed only to specific customer segments

Cons

  • Needs more visible critical notifications as we once exceeded our monthly email limit right during the Black Friday campaign. The notification was not visible enough for us to catch it on time, as a result, some emails scheduled to be sent over the weekend were never sent
  • Better library of dynamic values available for use inside emails

Return on Investment

  • Web user stickiness
  • Increased AOV
  • Improved sales velocity
  • Reviving dormant users
  • Insights for the sales team

Klaviyo is Great for Large Lists.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used Klaviyo to handle marketing communications across various platforms. This would include via emails and text messages. It helped us create flows and sales funnels to target the right people at the right time. It also helped us weed out people who would not be swayed by the marketing. Finally, it enables perfectly targeted offers by leveraging the data it collects and lets you segment your lists.

Pros

  • Segmenting Lists.
  • Email Flows.
  • Ease of Email Design.

Cons

  • Cost went up quite a bit.
  • Novice users might struggle to get their full value from it.
  • Need for experts to maximize return on investment.

Return on Investment

  • We increased out revenue.
  • We created new detailed offers that converted at a higher rate.
  • The cost increase decreased some profitability after email list changes.

How Klaviyo works for me

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Klaviyo for both contacting existing customers, and following up with prospects, and potential customers. As we offer insurance services, customers often don't purchase immediately (choosing to go away and compare prices etc, as it's a more considered purchase) - Klaviyo allows us to target those customers with a series of emails, educating customers on the importance of our services, how we can help, and offering incentives/discounts to complete their quotes. We use Klaviyo for a customer's full lifecycle with us - from first quote, to retention, and even win back if they leave us. We also integrate it with our ads (Google & Facebook) to keep messaging consistent across channels and make better use of the data we're collecting.

Pros

  • Targeting customer behaviour (i.e. customer gets a quote for a specific product - we target with relevant messaging)
  • Automation - once flows are set up, they just run with no manual intervention needed
  • Segmentation - we can get really specific with who we're emailing with what messaging

Cons

  • Pre-built templates/workflows etc are very retail centric which don't always work for us as a financial services company
  • Reporting is a little surface level - I don't get a full picture of how my emails have performed so end up having to export and stitch reports together myself
  • Pricing ramps up quite quickly

Return on Investment

  • Much easier to leverage personalisation tools - to optimise our campaigns
  • Quicker to launch AB tests, so I can optimise email messaging more quickly
  • Takes less of my time up day to day managing campaigns freeing me up for other business priorities
