Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use PR Newswire to distribute press releases. We are new to the platform and purchased a package that allows us to write and distribute press releases. We wanted to get the word out about more formal announcements and product updates, as we did not have a means to communicate them previously. PR Newswire has helped us take the next step in our marketing approach.

Pros

  • Ease of uploading releases.
  • Confirmation with a call to ensure the press release is ready to go.
  • Reporting on the performance of each release.

Cons

  • Image optimization: sometimes they are still blurry.
  • Better pricing for standard packages.
  • No hidden fees, more price transparency upfront.

Return on Investment

  • There has been a wider net cast for our audience.
  • There is not necessarily any lead generation.
  • There is not much intentional pick-up, like a journalist reaching out to write a new piece based on our release.

  • Pricing could be better especially as it relates to a digital footprint
  • The ability to add multiple photos, video links, logos, etc., can be cost prohibitive
  • From an earned media relations standpoint, we find that journalists may not cover something once they see it on the newswire

Press releases are constantly used as part of our communication strategy, on behalf of our wide range of clients. Disseminating info using this service takes a lot of the work out of the process. We simply need to create a solid release and spend very little time on getting it out to the right people. The time and cost savings make it a no-brainer!

Pros

  • Simplifies the send out process and makes it easily repeatable.
  • Reduces the time and energy it takes to get the word out to the right people.
  • Backend dashboard is easy to use and provides all the info you need.

Cons

  • Cost was high when we only sent our releases for smaller clients.
  • Adding video and photos adds to the cost
  • Not able to easily target only specific outlets, or restrict others to reduce costs.
