Use Cases and Deployment Scope

productboard is used in our organisation to manage product roadmaps, suggestions for product insights and to spec out features and enhancements for our products.

It provides a platform for the R&D team to not only capture suggestions but visualise what that would look like in terms of development hours.

I am an end user for suggestions and insights but have some visibility on the wider product when assisting with the R&D team

Pros

  • Capturing Insights
  • Focus Bubbles for Insight hit markers
  • Grouping/Tagging suggestions together

Cons

  • The interface could be improved
  • Input field options could be less restrictive to the capture of data
  • Better notifications / updates on where insights have got to

Likelihood to Recommend

productboard is a fantastic piece of software for capturing product insights.

I use it frequently very week to update suggestions for the product for new features. I also use it for enhancement suggestions.

When speaking to customers or prospects, if it comes to light that there are features or changes that they would like to see within our software, I log and record these through Insights.

Its a great place to capture this information. It provides me a platform to ensure that this information is accurately captured and I can be confident that it will be addressed in an appropriate manner and not get ignored.

Great choice for product managers

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

ProductBoard (as the name suggests) is mainly being used by the product management team as means to manage roadmaps of multiple products (some in development and some already developed).

But viewing is not limited to the product team, the entire organization refers to the productboard as a means to get the answer "what's coming next" and "when is a feature scheduled".

We are currently implementing a productboard for any client of the organization to see a high-level overview of what our plans are next year.

Another important aspect is to track what features are in progress and what's complete. This can be done either manually or in integration with JIRA and other SaaS applications within the productboard.

The product team uses it to manage and update the roadmap with various metrics like priority, effort, etc.

Pros

  • Roadmap Management - Add/update the existing roadmap
  • Progress Tracking - Track development progress of various features on the roadmap
  • Gathering insights - Connect different sources to gather insights into a feature on the roadmap.

Cons

  • Integration with other tools like Asana etc.
  • Publishing release notes for new updates
  • Desktop application for better usage

Likelihood to Recommend

The best feature of productboard is organized features, it has a very simple structure and can be read and understood by anyone. If your roadmap is very dynamic and the executive team needs to be on top of it, productboard is the best application out there.

But if you have a small product and features do not change very often, then maybe you can look at other alternatives since productboard is expensive.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Productboard is mainly used by the Product department to receive ideas and requests from all our customers and handle that inside the tool to connect with new features or enhancements. It helps us to quickly discover where we can invest our efforts to build new things that will add value to the overall experience of our customers.

Pros

  • Handle customer insights
  • Connect insights with product features
  • Build easy to understand roadmap views

Cons

  • Lack of export capabilities
  • Lack of flexibility to build scoring equations
  • Powerful portal feature

Likelihood to Recommend

If you are looking for a powerful tool to receive and handle insights from customers. This tool will help you a lot, especially if you score under value vs effort product frameworks. Easy to build customer portal views and to handle things from productboard to Jira integration for development definitions.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Productboard it's used mainly as the system of record for all the product management area but we're also extending it as a collaborative tool with marketing departments for upcoming release planning. It's also used for all of our product management prioritization sessions across strategic drivers to align our company objectives for the year. For the capturing of feedback, we have standardized a Google form connected through Zap to productboard with the most relevant information we need to evaluate feature requests. Everything connects to productboard's inbox and then is categorized or added as insight for existing feedback from other customers.

Pros

  • Flexibility to define different types of views.
  • Great UX and UI.
  • It's integrated with top project management tools as well as zaps for more customized processes.

Cons

  • Gitlab integration would be awesome.
  • Depends on your budget pricing may be a factor to consider.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's really good and highly customizable for different types of needs such as internal top customers view, and prioritization statuses, but also external views shared with marketing or other departments. It is not so good for project tracking.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

productboard helps each department have visibility and contribution to our product roadmap. It helps us prioritize which features we should work on and when.

Pros

  • Flexibility - organize your products and features in any way you like
  • Input - give your teams a way to make suggestions and provide feedback
  • Integrations

Cons

  • Far too expensive per seat
  • No way to track/manage projects
  • No way to abstract sets of features into larger buckets for high-level presentations

Likelihood to Recommend

It is well suited when you have a complex product with many feature areas and you don't want to lose track of important requests or ideas. It could be better tied to business goals/objectives - there are too many conflicting prioritization methods - but the customizability is also a plus if you put in the time to organizing the backlog.

productboard is a must-buy for Agile teams

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Productboard helps us accomplish the following two huge goals of our product: communicate the value and significance of a feature internally and show customers a public-facing, dynamic roadmap. It does both tremendously well, and with an ease-of-use that puts it far above other tools. Productboard also features ranking and pointing of features to show value, as well as the ability to link features to JIRA and other applications. We've also loved that there is a Zapier integration, so that data can flow easily to other sources and so that we can push features into the tool with ease.

Pros

  • Road mapping and planning
  • Ranking and sorting features
  • Collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • External roadmaps and feature suggestions

Cons

  • Better integrations
  • Easier sorting at scale
  • Easier tagging of incoming features at high volume

Likelihood to Recommend

Productboard is well suited for road mapping, feature ranking, and managing multiple projects, particularly in smaller companies.
