I use QuarkXPress for all my design needs, from developing graphics for social media posts, sales collateral materials, posters, white paper PDFs, book and publication design, and more. Its page layout functionality is second to none and it grows better every day in terms of its ability to manipulate photos, text, etc (ie taking on more of the basic tasks of PhotoShop, for example).
  • General graphic design
  • Page Layout for magazines, newspapers, catalogs, etc.
  • Outputting files to Amazon Kindle
  • Currently does not have a way to open really old archived QuarkXPress files.
  • Text manipulation could be expanded upon (ie be able to warp or distort text).
  • Be able to output files in InDesign format.
The one (major) downside to QuarkXPress is that most designers now use InDesign, so when sharing files, they hate getting a QuarkXPress file, as they don't understand how the program works. And like most legacy programs (programs that have been around virtually from the start of PCs), QuarkXPress offers far more functionality than I could ever use, so it may be a bit difficult to learn for someone new to the program. But it is a fantastic program for publication design (ie multiple page designs); I have been a loyal user from almost its initial release.

In my organisation I used the QuarkXPress desktop tool to edit and alter layouts. We design UI for sets, and headlines and also edit photos to corp and add filters to images. We rotate images based on UI requirements and make a precise fit for the end user to make the design user-friendly.
  • Designer Headlines
  • Copy Blocks
  • Photo Graphics
  • Some enterprise features should be made free.
  • Free content design templates should be provided.
  • Expecting responsive technical support.
I used QuarkXPress to maintain a proper page layout for the UI which I receive from a UIUX developer. I develop Graphic Illustrations on the digital canvas to create creative content on the page design set and to develop designer headlines and sub-headlines where writers and editors can amend the text and place the copped images.

I am a graphic deign and this is my desktop publishing program, every day for 40 years.
  • Page layout
  • Spelling
  • Import pictures
  • Vectors
If there were no such thing as InDesign, I would highly recommend QuarkXPress. However, as a contemporary designer, you are better off with InDesign since it is part of the Adobe platform. It has nothing to do with Quark's capabilities.

We design a physical catalog every year for our customers and the designing and proofing of every page is a multi-step process. We utilize our in-house marketing team, purchasing team, and the most important for the process, our art department. QuarkXPress allows us to quickly mockup, design, and share pages amongst our internal team members for the production of every page in our catalog.
  • Easy to use GUI
  • Flexible UI workspace
  • Customer Support
  • User / License management
  • Ability to use 2 monitors
  • More file conversion options
  • Run multiple instances of Quark at the same time
If you are looking for a great design solution that does not break the bank then QuarkXPress is the way to go. We use Quark not only due to the low cost but, the customer support is amazing and every year you get a new release with updates that you never knew you needed. Quark's development team takes on suggestions and often will implement some of them if the need is great enough. I cannot express the saving of time and money enough when it comes to using QuarkXPress.

I use QuarkXpress for the design and production of all print materials for international education conferences. We produce booklets, flyers, posters, and large format signs/banners, as well as projection slideshows for conference events. Quark provides an easy, user-friendly way to create quality print materials and digital artwork.
  • Excellent project conversion into PDFs and digital formats.
  • Incredibly user friendly and intuitive to use.
  • Works seamlessly with our Adobe Suite of programs.
  • Some of the conversion metrics are clunky or not as intuitive.
  • Could be better marketed or encouraged. I find that the very few people I work with know how to use it.
  • My biggest peeve is the license copies I can use and how older versions don't work well with newer versions.
QuarkXPress is very well suited for the design of promotional items and artwork. It is less well suited for our journal publication process, where we use InDesign instead.

Use the product to produce a weekly newspaper. Using a pre-set template, Quark works well for basic media production. Not too many problems with crashing, though there are issues with corrupted media files nearly every week. Does what it's supposed to and older versions are inexpensive. Would recommend it for this purpose.
  • Page Layout.
  • Newspaper Production.
  • PDF files.
  • Often slow.
  • Corrupted photo files.
  • Wonky control features.
Worked like a charm for what we needed at a small, weekly newspaper. We use it on multiple computers, including my own. I use the program for the first and last drafts of the newspaper before they go to press. No major issues with its use and has been steady for the last half-decade.
