Scalable and Reliable Ecommerce for Merchants

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are a Shopify Plus Partner Agency. So we use Shopify Plus Daily in order to deliver advanced ecommerce sites, and custom functionality. It is our clients' primary CMS used in their organisations, and we develop and build on top of it. There are lots of functionalities that we use, and we code primarily in Liquid and Javascript.

Pros

  • Checkout Customisations
  • Secure Checkout
  • Uptime
  • Product investment - Shopify Plus are constantly innovating and improving the platform
  • Third party apps
  • Reliable base themes

Cons

  • Support - sometimes support lead times are slower than we'd like
  • More advanced Bundling functions
  • More advanced discounting functions
  • More advanced Subscription functions
  • Better support of payments in Qatar regions

Likelihood to Recommend

Shopify Plus is well suited to merchants who are transacting over £1million in revenue per year. At this revenue rate, it is more optimal in terms of transaction rate to move from Advanced to Plus. Also, for merchants wanting more advanced B2B functions, checkout customisations or markets setups they will need Shopify Plus. For smaller ecommerce merchants, standard Shopify plans would be better.

Shopify Plus Simplifies Processes

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Shopify Plus as the primary platform for our online store, seamlessly integrated with our ERP system, Acumatica. This connection allows us to automatically manage orders, synchronize inventory, and update product listings in real time. Shopify Plus provides a reliable, scalable solution for processing both B2C and B2B transactions while maintaining brand consistency across multiple sales channels. The integration with Acumatica eliminates manual data entry, reduces fulfillment errors, and ensures accurate stock visibility company-wide.

Pros

  • Online order management
  • Website design flexibility
  • Inventory listing management

Cons

  • Shipping terms management
  • More product variants
  • Better reporting functions

Likelihood to Recommend

Shopify Plus makes order management simple and less error prone. Connecting our ERP allows us to seamlessly manage our product listings, fulfill orders, and sync customer data. Limitations to the number of product variants requires attention from our staff to make sure our products sync without issue. Other than being arbitrary, there's really no need to limit the number of product variants.

Shopify Plus-Thoughts and Suggestions

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Shopify Plus for the website of my brand- [...]. It;s not solving a business problem, but rather opening up a new channel for online sales directly through our website. I use Shopify Plus for all the content that goes into our websites. All the pages (PDPs, LPs, HPs).

Pros

  • Intuitive to edit content on pages without requiring a lot of coding.
  • Easy to setup discounts.
  • Easy to manage product information that will be displayed on the product page.
  • Easy to read the analytics and build reporting.

Cons

  • Allow discounts to stack on top of each other when needed.
  • Allow more personalization of content for specific customer groups without requiring backend coding.
  • Be less app based and have more internal features. Refer to stacking discounts example above.

Likelihood to Recommend

Under the scope of my responsibilities, Shopify Plus works great when editing content. It's interface is easy to understand and hovering over the block showing you what section of the page structure it is to edit makes it easy to edit content. Not a lot of coding needed. However, a scenario that is less appropriate is when I want to allow customers to stack discounts on top of each other or when I want to show a personalized message to a specific customer group. For example, if I want to show a header banner to my employees, this will need top be coded in the backend and it makes things complicated. The same applies for example if I want to allow this customer group to have free shipping and a bigger discount. I cannot stack both discounts so I would either need to code or use an app. Being so app based is not ideal ans they cost more for us and we already pay for Shopify Plus.

Shopify Plus is the Perfect Fit For Our Business.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Shopify Plus is specifically built for e-commerce businesses like CVG. It offers a lot of customization, automation, and integrates seamlessly with our WMS. It helps maintain our product catalog, customer accounts, and storefront all in one place. It allows us to sell directly on our website and also on our social media platforms. It syncs with our WMS directly, so that all orders are synced, picked, packed, and shipped without any manual input. Shopify Flow is something that we use a lot in order to automate tasks like fraud checks, back-in-stock alerts, order tagging, or notifying the warehouse about VIP customers. It also provides access to advanced reporting, enabling us to analyze sales, performance, and trends in customer behavior.

Pros

  • Syncs directly with ShipBob WMS.
  • Shopify Scripts and the Script Editors allows us to tailor our checkout screen.
  • Gives us advanced sales reporting, showing trends, performance, year to year, and even projections.
  • Scalable for high volume, handles spikes in traffic without downtime.

Cons

  • Transaction fees if you don't use Shopify payments.
  • Running multiple brands or regions requires creating separate stores rather than having a true multi-storefront environment.
  • A lot of features require third-party apps (subscriptions, advanced search, loyalty programs for example).
  • International taxes and compliance tools require additional apps and some manual setup.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you have a growing e-commerce company with a single storefront, Shopify Plus is a great fit. You can sell on multiple platforms, it integrates with a wide array of WMS, and it offers extensive automation for those repetitive tasks that you don't want to do over and over again. It offers customization options for growth and remains responsive even during peak season. It maintains all aspects of your business in one place, providing advanced reports that show you how certain ads are performing, customer trends, and day-to-day/week-to-week/year-to-year sales comparisons, giving you a clear view of your company's performance.

Easy to use out of the gate.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Shopify Plus and its connecting apps for D2C sales. For example, Recharge, a subscription-based app, connects to the Shopify platform, where all our customer data is stored. It’s also great that we can set up promo codes for any sales that we choose to run.

Pros

  • App partnerships.
  • Ease of use.
  • Straight forward.

Cons

  • Some apps not as integrated.
  • Talking to 3rd party apps outside of Shopify integration.
  • Pricing.

Likelihood to Recommend

As someone who isn’t technically sound like many others would be, it was super easy for me to jump into the Shopify Plus platform and learn my way around fast. For any business owner looking to get off the ground and run things themselves, I’d suggest Shopify Plus with no hesitation.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used Shopify Plus for our client for managing all the operations like Inventory, sales and analytics part. It helped streamline the process for us. That gave us an edge to focus on important aspects of business like marketing. It's a good option for ecommerce industry.

Pros

  • sales data
  • inventory management
  • orders management
  • data analytics

Cons

  • i wanted you to add the option for customisation in Shopify Plus...most of the themes we can customise it
  • More analytics like google analytics they need to add
  • order management

Likelihood to Recommend

Yeah so Shopify Plus is useful for maintaining all the data properly like orders, abandonment cart customers data. Orders of all the customers...we can filter the customer's data depending upon the need.. like customers who bought 3+ products or 2+ products we can customize accordingly. It is useful for me... The only way it is less appropriate for me is the theme customisation option.

Shopify Plus Good Value for Money

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Shopify is great for small to medium size enterprise who can control the visual identity of their site. Shopify starts being costly when you try to customize the template. Nevertheless Shopify Plus has accelerated their transformation into enterprise level capabilities. The number of new features released over the past 12 months has been impressive. Shopify Plus offers the best cost effective way to launch and operate websites. Shopify Plus offers more features in North America than in some of the other regions. The main weakness is in the Shopify lack of native App solution and the lack of regional payment gateway and logistics partners in some of the other regions outside of USA and Canada.

Pros

  • CMS
  • CATALOG
  • APP MARKETPLACE ECOSYSTEM
  • MULTI SITES

Cons

  • OMS
  • LAST MILE INTEGRATION
  • CLIENT SUPPORT
  • PAYMENT GATEWAY INTEGRATION

Likelihood to Recommend

Shopify is great for template based sites with minimum custom functionalities and design. It is easy to add Apps to tackle specific problems like UGC and metafield management. Shopify is also good as managing quick update of the CMS as long as one stick to the out of the box template management of the site.
