Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Thinkific to create online self-paced courses for those that are interested in learning the content I teach. Thinkific helps me by bringing many different tools into a central location. I am able to easily upload my teaching content. The website is intuitive and well laid out. The ability to have a landing page and website created from my course content keeps things efficient. Additionally, Thinkific integrates with Kit, which is my email client, and the payment portal setup has been easy to navigate.

Pros

  • Integration with other platforms such as Kit, Stripe, and Paypal
  • Landing pages and website pages are generated using course content.
  • Being able to bundle products, provide discount codes, and keep track of students and their progress.

Cons

  • The original price was good, but with new features (that I don't need) it is starting to get expensive.
  • The payment fees can be a bit steep
  • It would be nice if some features like certificates were available for the lower tiers.

Likelihood to Recommend

I started with Thinkific a few years ago, so the features were limited. They have come a long way with integrating other services directly into the platform. For example, the payment gateway has been set up so you don't need to use Stripe anymore. They have added in AI features and now they have started to do email campaigns directly in the platform.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Thinkific for my courses, digital download lead magnets, and digital workbooks. The business problems I solve are for job seekers, providing out-of-the-box thinking search strategies as well as leveraging AI for building new income streams for the everyday person even if they are not looking to leave their current employer. Thinkific allows me to create amazing landing pages, ability to email and create funnels, and so much more. It's a convenient one stop shop and I love it!

Pros

  • The accelerator program.
  • Providing tips on how to succeed using their platform.
  • User-friendly setup for putting together landing pages and course uploads.
  • The platform is very intuitive and you don't have to have tech skills to use the platform.

Cons

  • I wish bulk orders could be available for ALL plans not only the higher paying plans.
  • I wish I knew how SEO worked with Thinkific because I don't think I am doing it correctly.
  • I do a lot of searches in Google to figure out things like how to space in Thinkific for some of its features when working on my landing page. Apparently, there are some features that do not space and you have to use html to get the words to space in paragraph form and etc.

Likelihood to Recommend

I think Thinkific is very well suited if you want more control and not a ton of competition. It is very well suited if you want to create courses because it does an amazing job with providing course outline examples for you to stay organized and so forth. The only thing I would say where the courses might be less appropriate is if someone is expecting it to be like an udemy where people can see a ton of different course creators all in one place with course recommendations. Thinkific is not that type of platform and I LOVE that. On Thinkific, it almost feels like our site is our own ya know. I tried out other platforms and it just felt like you were competing with so many other people and could see other courses. Felt like being on a platter served with others. Thinkific just feels more unique in the sense it feels like when people come to your page, they are only seeing your page.

Overall a good tool

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it as our course and resources platforms for teachers.

Pros

  • Catalogue of courses.
  • Tracking of progress.
  • Email capabilities.

Cons

  • Templates and design.
  • Navigation ease.

Likelihood to Recommend

Thinkific is more appropriate, in our organization's opinion, to scenarios in which you already have a navigation process in mind, all of your courses organized somewhere else. It is harder to use it to start from scratch. The user experience part needs to be added by us and there's not enough guidance on how to effectively do that.

Thinkific is a great platform

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use it for my online courses.

Pros

  • I like the costumer support
  • the design of the website very easy to use

Cons

  • I would like an integrated blog option included with every plan
  • I would like the gallery of photos with a better size design

Likelihood to Recommend

Is very easy to upload the videos and photos in the course. I don't like the photo gallery option in the landing page, it change the photos on a weird size, on my laptop it cut it up too much in horizontal. I don't like that the flow email on Thinkific doesn't have too much design and that the list of flow email doesn't include student who have bought courses already, it just includes the leads.

Thinkific Made It Possible Launching an Interior Design Education Platform

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Thinkific as my education portal for my target audience of trade professionals working in the built environment.

Pros

  • Easy to use platform.
  • Easy to change and update contact.
  • Intuitive for my students.
  • Offers a variety of material to be uploaded like PDFs, images, videos etc.

Cons

  • In the payment portal, students purchasing my course should have the option to choose their preferred currency.
  • Opportunity to gather leads through a waitlist for future courses.
  • Task reminders related to students asking me questions - I often don't realize that a follow-up is required with posts in the community. Can the person posting click a button to indicate a general post or request action from the organizer/admin staff?
  • MOST IMPORTANT - help us market our course like other platforms do.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I have been struggling with starting an online training platform for over six years. :( I am super technology-challenged, and as a one-woman business owner (and I work full-time, as well), I needed an easy-to-learn solution for my training business. And I found it! Super easy, with great how-to instructions and videos, and a quick response to emails. I have also recorded my presentation, and it is just as user-friendly. I feel empowered and able. Thanks Thinkific!

Pros

  • Setting up the courses.
  • Help instructions.
  • Videos.

Cons

  • When you add a new user and the person reports not receiving the notification email, there is no way to resend it. I need to edit the user and cancel their account. Then add it back again.

Likelihood to Recommend

I think it is well-suited for companies like mine that offer a variety of courses. Not just one.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Thinkific to host my online painting courses and communities. As a former public school teacher, I found that Thinkific was the most user-friendly and organized to use, both for me and my students. I love the community feature where my students can upload their artworks and give and receive feedback. Their customer service is excellent, and they respond quickly to any questions or concerns you have. I would highly recommend Thinkific to anyone looking to host a course or community.

Pros

  • Organized & easy to upload course materials.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Excellent hosting for communities.

Cons

  • Having a second community adds a lot to the yearly cost of Thinkific.

Likelihood to Recommend

Thinkific is well-suited if you want to host an online course and have a variety of materials, such as videos, PDFs, and assignments. A plus is that you can host a community linked to your course, making it easy to give feedback.

Highly recommend.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I began creating my online courses on Thinkific 5 years ago and have not regretted it. I started on a different platform but when I wasn't getting the support I needed, I went looking for something else and found Thinkific. Thinkific is easy to use, has great support and publishes training that supports a startup course creator like me. And it seems they are always working on new functionality which is very important and keeps me around, happily.

Pros

  • The courses and training offered is a game changer for startup course creators.
  • Ever improving and adding new functionality.

Cons

  • The community function is somewhat unusable for my students; I'm not sure if it's hard to find or what, but I have a tough time getting them to use it.

Likelihood to Recommend

I honestly can't think of a scenario where it wouldn't be appropriate.

Using Thinkific in Architectural Education

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Thinkific to provide our nonprofit's courses on the internet; it does a good job of this; however directing users to the website + to buy the courses proves difficult; some users may find the sign-in process to long or difficult; another issue we have is Thinkific charges us a monthly fee which it taxes...even though we are a nonprofit; legally we are tax-exempt; we have been unable to resolve this;

Pros

  • Listing the courses works
  • Have an exam works...
  • The website set-up looks professional

Cons

  • It should not be charging a sales tax to a 501-c3 in the US which it continues to do;
  • Helping with marketing courses would be great - we don't really have the bandwidth for this...and find it challenging...
  • Not calling the courses 'Products' on the main course page - we requested Thinkific to change this...but was told it could not be done!

Likelihood to Recommend

I think the course program + questionnaires with it work well; it is getting people to sign up for our courses that is problematic for our non-profit; we could use help with marketing + developing strategies for that;

Thinkific a Great Product for Service Based Businesses

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Thinkific to teach masterclasses that are combined with a course. It helps me save time by doing group coaching or teaching several people at once. Because I can record the courses, I only have to teach the class once or modify the videos and update the downloadable handouts without starting from scratch. I am also able to offer the same course or masterclass as a recording over and over each year.

Pros

  • Makes it easier to set up course
  • Makes it easy to schedule events through Zoom
  • Offer very good training on ways to use the Thinkific product

Cons

  • It's not as easy to set up a pre-order course. Titles can't be published without information added.
  • It's hard to figure out how to setup a landing page to test interest before spending time building a course.
  • It's hard to figure out how to customize the landing page with colors, etc.

Likelihood to Recommend

Thinkific is well suited for helping service oriented customers that I coach on ways to create passive income products. As well as, recording training courses for their employees, sales staff and in some cases providing information for customers. It can be used for training and teaching.

I may be less appropriate for product based businesses.
