Our business typically works with large PDF documents where only a small portion pertains to our operations. Frequently we use Tungsten Power PDF to extract relevant pages or sections and allow us to work with more manageable documents. Additionally, we typically use Tungsten Power PDF to convert PDF data into Excel spreadsheets for easier sharing and collaboration or to combine documents where sending multiple files isn't an option.
Pros
Extract pages to new file.
Search function can identify words and phrases in a document.
Edit text and typewriter function allows for making any PDF 'fillable'.
Combining documents allows to physically print and sign a signature page of a document and insert it into the digital copy.
Cons
Sometimes the search function doesn't always pick up text on a page. It can turn back "no results" from time to time when searching for words that are clearly on-display in my screen.
At times, the program becomes finicky and will only open a PDF if the program has been closed down or else it returns an error.
I've noticed from time-to-time if a file is open in Tungsten Power PDF for an extended time and I go back to it, much of the content has disappeared causing me to have to close the program and reopen.
Likelihood to Recommend
It is well suited for adding or deleting text or other annotations to PDF documents, for extracting or combining pages and for converting PDF documents to word or excel.
I have multiple licenses for Tungsten Power PDF. My spouse is a court reporter involved in the production of trial transcripts, many times with submissions from multiple court reporters. This requires her to format the combined transcripts sections in accord with the rules governing transcript page volume size and page numbering. Tungsten Power PDF empowers her to combine and format the transcript sections into a single transcript series of volumes. I have used and use various PDF programs. Tungsten Power PDF is the program that I use generally in my workflows for three programs that I frequently use. Those three programs are: LiquidText PDF, TrialPad, and the legacy version of CaseMap. These programs do much of their work on PDFs. Tungsten Power PDF is the only regular PDF program that I know that makes it possible to use the legacy versions of CaseMap.
Pros
page numbering and batesstamping
extracting pages
redaction
search and redact
dividing large documents
inserting pages
deleting pages
inserting blank pages
stamping
Cons
blank page insertion could be clearer
font control when using the typewriter can be better
The CaseMap functionality could be made more prominent
Likelihood to Recommend
Tungsten Power PDF is well suited for those workflows that use legacy CaseMap!
Tungsten Power PDF is well suited to the production/compilation of trial transcripts for filing with the appellate courts.
Tungsten Power PDF is not well-suited to requesting and getting signatures on documents.
The product is used every day with high frequency as the “go to” for PDF document management. The product works. Every time. All the time. Seamless and quick. Staff particularly favor the option to combine multiple documents from various formats into a single, unified PDF document. They also appreciate the PDF editing capabilities as they are robust and stable.
Pros
Combine documents from multiple formats into one PDF
Edit PDF
Review PDFs, even from a mobile device
Cons
Sometimes the software updates don’t make sense. Staff are encouraged to wait at least a month before downloading and installing updates.
The PDF converter which is supposed to covert PDF to Word format is lackluster at best and makes frequent mistakes on complex documents.
The PDF editor is robust but doesn’t deal well with images.

GREAT for combining documents into a single PDF. Great for working with a PDF. Not so great converting PDF to Word format. Would like to see more effort put into that development. Would like to see more effective testing of updates prior to pushing them out as well. Otherwise it is awesome.
We use it for editing pdf files. We have a lot of English classes and the teachers use it for editing the pdf files to revise and change their pictures or any other aspects doable with Power PDF. Also the manager use it for their own presentations and meetings.
Pros
editing the image
converting the files to pdf
combining the pdf files together
Cons
to be able to stamp
to be able to sign

I use Tungsten Power PDF to fully edit documents, add and delete pages, create forms, apply stamps, and handle a variety of other tasks. It performs as well as, if not better than, other PDF solutions I’ve tried. Tungsten offers an affordable way to work with PDFs without sacrificing functionality or ease of use. I highly recommend Tungsten Power PDF, you won’t be disappointed.
Pros
Creates forms

It is well suited for converted docs to other formats such as Word or Excel.

I have shown friends of mine at other firms; how great Tungsten Power PDF is. I've showed them the conversion to Word and redacting. The scenarios where it is less appropriate are the conversions to Excel and PowerPoint, those need improvement.

Purchased two licenses to test the feasibility of replacing Adobe with Kofax. The test went great; users stated that Kofax is faster and easier to use than Adobe. We plan to replace all Adobe licenses with Kofax, resulting in a $6,000 annual savings. Our users primarily use the software to edit PDFs and sign documents.
Pros
Signing documents.
Editing PDFs.
OCR
Cons
OCR should not require so many clicks.
Editing PDFs is hidden behind ribbon clicks.
Likelihood to Recommend
Tungsten does not handle movement of pages well inside of document. Small documents with under 10 pages is fine, but 100+ page documents are extremely difficult to move pages or groups of pages around. We replace Adobe with Tungsten and in general the reception has been fine. It is a little clunky with clicking on links instead PDF's as you have you click the hand, and then to copy text you have to go back and click the arrow.
I use Power PDF to compare and edit PDFs. The problem this product addresses is identifying changes between rounds of creative, QAing a proof of the material before it goes out the door against what I provided our production team. I am also able to easily make edits to a PDF.
Pros
Comparing one PDF to another PDF
Editing a document
Easily identifying changes between documents without false changes you see in other programs
Cons
Layout shifts in a compare - when selecting to compare text only, a shift in where the text falls would be better identified in some other format
load time for opening the application
comparing the document - save as file name - if it could include a shortened description that reflects the documents rather than a alpha
Likelihood to Recommend
I will never use another application besides Power PDF to compare documents. Word and acrobat produces so many false changes and that I often spends more time trying to see what is truly different than if I hadn't used the application. This document is also useful for signatures, editing PDFs, and converting to other formats.
Tungsten is used as our PDF option. We find that the functionality of combining PDF files into one document to be extremely useful and easy to use. That includes numbering the pages, adding and deleting pages, arranging pages, bookmarking (extremely easy), and arranging content. Adding headers and footers is a breeze. If there were one thing to change, allow the footer to overlay for page numbering. That would make the document easier to read and cleaner. The product also has excellent compression ability to reduce the size of a combined file for email. The tool addressed our need for compiling and formatting large reports.
Pros
Combing files
Bookmarks
Editing
Formatting
Page numbering
File compression/size reduction.
Cons
Overlay function for page numbers.
Cleaner highlighting function.
Removing/replacing footers. Can impact pre-existing footers in combined files.
Likelihood to Recommend
Tungsten is well-suited for creating comprehensive reports. Well suited for signatures on documents that require signatures. I appreciate that making a PDF document searchable is easy. Having the function to convert to various formats, such as Word or Excel, is a great option and actually works. Thinking of a scenario that may be less appropriate is difficult. Find this program to be much easier than other PDF writers.
