Trainings and conferences are the only way I have encountered Whova
Pros
Engages participants in competition through polls, questions, and contests
Encourages networking for those in conferences through meet ups etc
Agenda for the conference as well as descriptions of what is available and maps of the hotel it is being held at were SUPER helpful all at the swipe of your finger
Cons
Honestly it is very clear and easy to use

Climate Beacon did an excellent job using Whova to organize its three-day conference — sharing information seamlessly with participants about main-stage and breakout sessions, moderators, and panelists. The platform also made it easy for attendees to connect with one another, creating meaningful conversations that extended beyond each session.
This is a fantastic resource for any in-person event — it truly facilitates connection and engagement effectively!
Pros
Facilitate connection between conference participants
Communicate event details clearly - allowing participants to know both their schedule of break out sessions, along with other break out sessions going on simultaneously
Allow for conference organizers to directly, clearly and dynamically communicate with attendees, such as about last minute changes in the program schedule or VIP guest arrivals
Cons
There should be a way to download participant lists
There should be more integration with LinkedIn
Whova has a strategic growth opportunity to keep communities connected AFTER the event is over. For example, Climate Beacon just assembled the movers and shakers of the climate world in Boston; creating a community between them and offering space to continue to share ideas and opportunities amongst them in this space would be helpful.

It is well-suited for a dynamic multi day conference - such as with multiple break out sessions, etc. For a simple one hour keynote, maybe less needed.
As a participating and attending organization at YIMBYtown 2025, Abundant Housing LA made it easy to connect to event managers and planners to discuss events, share resources, and prepare for upcoming engagements. Furthermore, it allowed us to easily stay in contact and exchange information with other event attendees.
Pros
Whova allowed me to create my own thread for a topic I care about.
Exchanging contact information with people I met is super easy even though it saves the email address as the contact name.
The agenda options were helpful is seeing what was available and narrowing down to top options via the ability to double book on my personal agenda.
Cons
For my needs, I can't think of anything that falls into this category.

Keeping a list of workshops and sessions available on calendar-like function of the app was really key in navigating the engagement opportunities. There were so many options for engagement and I can appreciate that while I wish I didn't have to choose, the maps and session details really helped me focus my intentions for this year's conference. The sessions were tagged with relevant topics which contributed to narrowing down many options into the most anticipated for myself. With so many people around - a very overwhelming situation - it was nice to pull into a corner and plan out my next moves.
Used for a conference for all family medicine docs in Hawaii. Utilized by attendees to track lectures, leave comments and feedback and engage within the community.
I was recently and attendee/exhibitor at the CRRA Conference and the Whova was the best conference app I have experienced in a very long time. Was easy to use for the Conference Agenda, looking up attendees and sending them messages - but the best was the Lead Management right from my phone.
Pros
Lead Retrieval/Management
Attendee Messaging
Agenda
Cons
Attendee information should include mailing address and telephone numbers
Once the messaging icon is opened, the number of open messages should disappear. Each message needed to be opened - was time consuming to remove and look at unread messages

I am only a user - as I do not put on conferences - and have already referred it to other shows I am attending as an exhibitor.
I recently attended the [..] Annual Training/Conference in Louisville, KY - this was my first time using the Whova app. I found it very helpful in navigating the week which was filled with various events. The agenda portion of Whova was definitely my friend throughout the week. I personally did not encounter any issues or problems with the app.
Pros
Agenda
Ease of use
Leaderboard - very fun

I feel that for a large gathering of people, both in person and virtual, Whova is a great platform and works very well. There is a lot to keep organized including attendance, training, logistics, etc...and the Whova app keeps everything contained. I would assume that for smaller gathering with fewer attendees and fewer events the app would not be needed.
I use Whova exclusively for conferences that I attend within my industry, provided that Whova is offered as the conference app by the organizer. Whova is also helpful for post-conference outreach, remaining connected, and for prospecting either prior to or post conference. I find Whova very helpful for conference agendas, scheduled sessions and other ways to connect with conference attendees.
Pros
Conference platform and information
Additional Resources
Connecting with conference attendees
In-pocket convenience
Cons
Consider adding an Instant Messaging component to interact with conference attendees and colleagues in real time, with notifications.
In addition to the photo gallery, could there be added functionality to allow for uploading presentations?
Many times attendees are promised access to keynote and session presentations after the conference, but often it is unclear where or when these will be available.

Conference content is the most useful tool, seeing the schedule at a glance, or which breakout room the session you're interested in is held and how to get to it.
I utilized this app while at the 2025 [...]Conference. Overall, I was very impressed with the platform and the networking tools. I loved being able to manage my schedule and have it ready to go to guide my day.
Pros
Direct networking with attendees and opportunities to meet.
Organizing the conference's agenda.
Connected well with the attendee roster available. I really liked the bookmark feature that helped me quickly remember whom I chatted with.
Cons
I did notice some lag in messages being received after being sent.
I also found it hard to go back to a community group meet up for updates. You had to manually go back through all the other groups to find the one I signed up for. I would see updates come through, but couldn't access them directly.

I think it works really well as a way to organize yourself while at a conference. As well, to network with said attendees I found it very valuable to remember names. Having an automatic rolodex with everyone I met and ensure I had their info to connect later.
Two of our software companies use Whova, and there is a reason....Keeps you in the loop and EASY to use and communicate.
Pros
Ease of use
Lets me know what and where things are
Great networking even if you do not meet them in person
Sharing of pictures
Gives me alerts
Cons
I love it, so nothing I can see that I would change

This is well suited because it empowers you to be informed with a simple touch of a button. This could be from an event, who the sponsors and who is attending the event, logistics, and basically gives you access to be involved and chose what applies to you.
I attended a Whova use-case event. The app was used for all formal logistics and networking purposes. The event had an attendance of roughly 800 unique members.
Pros
Profile Creation
Ease of Contact Exchange
Aggregated Attendees List for Follow Up
Cons
Split the community tab. It's currently hard to have sideline events be discoverable to the wider audience if it's hidden between polls and general questions
Likelihood to Recommend
Whova is great for conference settings in which networking is a significant aspect of the experience.
