WooCommerce has a love and hate relationship with many web designers and users alike. Over the years, it's been pretty much the only option we have when using Wordpress. Once you get comfortable with the platform it's not that bad besides the expensive official plugins. While there are many plugins that offer premium functions for free, some can only be performed by an official WooCommerce plugin which almost always incurs a monthly or yearly fee.
All in all, it can handle digital goods, physical goods and subscriptions pretty well with all the new updates and hopefully it keeps building.
Pros
Providing an easy and secure platform to offer your products and services.
Various expandable shipping options for every use case.
You can usually find a plugin or service to fit every need you require to succeed in your business venture.
Cons
A much better an updated design would help it stand with newer alternatives
Better options for digital goods

It's a great and robust platform for all levels of wordpress education. With the ecosystem behind it, newcomers shouldn't have a problem navigating the UI.
We use WooCommerce on our brand websites as a highly affordable and flexible e-commerce tool. We are specifically utilizing add-ons such as min/max quantities, quantity increments, and the ability to easily display total/each pricing with quantity breaks. Some of these features have recently been added to the base WooCommerce, which is great. It is easy to integrate with payment and shipping solutions, and easy for team members to use.
Pros
Flexibility with addons and customization.
Integrations with shipping, payments, email.
Clean, intuitive interface.
Cons
Base shipping time estimate integration.
Sometimes, slow or redundant information.
An easier way to download PDF invoices/receipts.
Likelihood to Recommend
Perfect for growing companies with a small team. It is very affordable. It sometimes has bugs and lacks premium support options. Management of customer groups (e.g., for preferred pricing, incentives, marketing) is cumbersome and difficult to implement efficiently.

We have integrated the WooCommerce on lot of our websites. It is e-Commerce plugin that can be installed on WordPress. It is very good plugin that provides us the way many e-Commerce features and that too for free. I recommend this to small to medium scale e-Commerce platforms to use that.
Pros
Order Management
Stock Management
Payment Gateway Handlings
Cons
Product Structure
Way of storing the products
Customization of Block Cart
Customization of Block Checkout
Likelihood to Recommend
WooCommerce is well suited when your store is small or medium in scale. For large store WooCommerce is not suitable because of the way it stores the product. It stores the product in central table of posts and it becomes very slow when you have too much of products, blogs, variations etc.

We use WooCommerce as our primary selling platform. The foundation of our business is built on the back of WooCommerce. WooCommerce provides us with the flexibility to scale our e-commerce operations and customize the customer experience. We're not "locked into" an ecosystem.
Pros
Scalability: whether you have 10 orders a day or 1,000, WooCommerce can handle them.
Flexible: If you want a unique, tailored shopping experience for your customers, WooCommerce can deliver that.
Cons
There appear to be core functionalities that are common on other shopping platforms that are not part of the core WooCommerce plugin. Thus, more plugins (which can lead to more conflicts) are required.
Likelihood to Recommend
If you're looking to solve a unique problem, WooCommerce likely has the toolkit to do so. Some of the plug-and-play shopping platforms are so rigid that you can't make them distinctive to your business needs.
We use WooCommerce for selling online courses. We wanted to sell online courses and were looking for the solution. But we found that the commercially available solutions like Kajabi, Teachable, or ClickFunnels were too costly and we had to pay a recurring cost. Besides that our courses are extremely affordable. So we went for a WordPress website and then for selling the courses and receiving payments WooCommerce was obvisous choice. WooCommerce is reliable solution for WordPress and it's free too!
Pros
WooCommerce is the de-facto standard for WordPress.
WooCommerce is open-source and is regularly updated.
WooCommerce has a huge library of integrations.
Cons
It is very difficult to customize the checkout page.
It is very difficult to bypass the shopping cart and directly buy the product.
The learning curve is bit steep.
Likelihood to Recommend
WooCommerce is a best plugin for WordPress. If you don't want to pay monthly fees for the commercial shopping carts or online shops and need full control, go for WordPress website. WooCommerce goes perfectly well with WordPress. And there are a lot of plugins available to extend the functionality of WooCommerce such as, membership plugins, collecting recurring payments, etc.
WooCommerce was my main ecommerce host for many years for my online store. It worked very well for basic applications but became troublesome when customisation was needed
WooCommerce is a great fit for a plug and play type online store. However it's less suitable if you want to be more creative or constantly change the appearance of your website

Our company provides website development and hosting solutions for businesses of any size in our region. Since we are primarily build WordPress websites, we use Woo-Commerce whenever we have a customer who wants to have an online store. The sites range from single-page campaign pages, offering one product or such as an event ticket to complex multi-page site offering hundreds of products in the retail space. We have also successfully used WooCommerce to implement e-commerce solutions for the sale of digital goods, such as books and articles. Some customers want a "request a quote" solution as opposed to a full checkout and delivery system on their website and we have successfully implemented both of these types using WooCommerce. While WooCommerce doesn't natively handle every scenario that we come across in the e-commerce space, we are always able to find reliable add-ons to achieve the customers' goals.
Pros
WooCommerce has easy integration with WordPress and a wide variety of plug-ins or add-ons to expand the base functionality
The product management and bulk upload features of WooCommerce make it easy to get customers started quickly with e-commerce on their WordPress sites..
The included order management functionality with WooCommerce is simple for customers to use, even if they are not tech savvy. This allows us to handover the transaction management to customers after quick training sessions to effectively allow them to manage their online stores on their own.
WooCommerce has built-in capabilities for integrating with most of the popular payment gateway options for customers who want to handle the full transaction online.
Cons
While the product management functionality is good, the ability to manage the search functionality on websites that use WooCommerce needs some improvement. Although this is considered basic functionality, you need add-ons to set things like the match type on search queries. Without these add-ons, doing searches on a WooCommerce enabled website can have unexpected results that diminish the user experience.
Although, having plug-ins created by third-party's is a good thing, it also means that there is a higher risk of plug-ins being unsafe or not compatible with other features on the website or even other WooCommerce add-ons. This can and has compromise the integrity of some websites, causing both display and functionality issues.
Unless you just need a very basic website or a very basic e-commerce functionality, your development team is going to have to learn to use new plug-ins every time a customer wants some thing different from a standard e-commerce implementation. This is because features such as, discounts, post shopping surveys, and delivery reminders are not available out of the box with WooCommerce, and you will need to explore and likely purchase plug-ins outside of WooCommerce to achieve the desired functionality. This means that your development of e-commerce websites could slow down unless you restrict your customers to options that are included out of the box with WooCommerce only.
Likelihood to Recommend
WooCommerce is best suited to customers whose website is built on the WordPress platform, and whose development team has a good understanding of plug-in implementation. If your website is not built on WordPress, but on Laravel or React (or any other non WordPress technology), then WooCommerce is not for you. WooCommerce is also great for customers who just need a simple online shopping experience. If your needs involve more complex or immersive features such as timed discounts, pick up locations, delivery reminders, or post shopping feedback surveys, know that you will need to purchase additional add-ons to make to get these features using WooCommerce set up on WordPress.

The platform is setup to display 50+ products with varying level of options to customise the order such as size, colour, style. Pros
Integration with payment gateways such as stripe, paypal and authorize.net
Sending automated emails to customers with order details and shipping updates
Providing order, product and customer analytics
Displaying multiple product types
Organising products into relevant categories
Setting up different tax bands for purchases from varying countries
Cons

Customising automated emails
Improved checkout experience

Woocommerce is a great ecommerce platform for big and small businesses. It provides everything needed to get started and if you have some developer experience or support it is also possible to customise the setup to tailor the configuration to specific business needs. Woocommerce can be suitable for small local stores or large multinational companies however I'd always recommend working with a developer on large stores
I needed a ecommerce plugin that worked with Wordpress and Elementor. I sell digital goods to a global audience and WooCommerce seemed like a good fit for this.
Pros
Payment handling
Digital Product display
Affiliate Product Links
Ecommerce experience
Cons
Out of box order bump
Out of box speed optimization without a plugin
More detailed analytics

Set up of WooCommerce is fairly easy with some experience of WordPress. Any business that wants to sell online using a WordPress website would do well using WooCommerce. WooCommerce could be overkill if you just need to sell one or 2 products or are looking for a cart plugin that has more of a conversion optimized funnel (although there are plugins for this within the WooCommerce Ecosystem)
