Overall Satisfaction with MIP Fund Accounting (formerly Abila MIP)

I use MIP for all our accounting needs: pay bills, payroll, budgeting, and financial statements. It is very user friendly, has an excellent support program and has annual updates to fix problems or update the tax tables. When problems arise (which is seldom) they have answers, or find someone else who can solve the issue. The payroll module does all the required reports including W-2s and quarterly reports - where accuracy is essential.
  • New Hire Report: MIP gathers the information and fills in the report. All I have to do is verify the information, print and mail. So much easier than typing it all, and don't have to worry about typos.
  • Quarterly reports for the IRS - verify, print and mail, where accuracy is a must!
  • W-2's: Verify, print a copy for us and efile. What could be any easier than that?
  • When I'm doing payroll, I have to manually add the peoples' salaries to see if it balances with my spreadsheet. It would be nice if it gave me a total of the salaries.
  • Trainings are so expensive (we're a non-profit), so I have to do a lot of trial and error procedures to figure stuff out. It would be nice if MIP sent out periodic examples of problems/solutions to often asked questions.
  • I'm not familiar with MIP Advance, but we are very happy with the program we are using.
We have multiple sources of revenue: state and federal grants, local support from cities and counties, and many types of donors - Individuals, companies, organizations, foundations, and restitution. MIP is excellent in tracking all these monies.
The program was already purchased before I started in 1999. Can't remember the program they used in a prior job, but it wasn't non-profit and not nearly as efficient.
MIP is extremely user friendly, has all the accounting essentials all wrapped into one program. I was pleasantly surprised with the last update that the Accounting and Payroll programs were integrated into one module. Seemed strange at first, but is put together marvelously. Better functionality. Am anxious to see the next improvements. So grateful our company chose this program for our accounting needs.
