Overall Satisfaction with Abila MIP Fund Accounting

MIP Fund Accounting is being used for G/L, payroll and financial reporting.
  • None. It has a 20+ yr old architecture, no APIs and poor support. We plan to sunset it and migrate to Workday or something similar. What is holding us back is user inertia.
  • Needs to be architected and redesigned for scalability as a SaaS solution with REST APIs or web services for integration with HR systems. Change the licensing structure to subscription based.
We are using a separate grant management solution which does not integrate with MIP. As a result we have built custom interfaces that directly update MIP tables( a bad practice) to get around the lack of open APIs.
The imapct has been to keep the current but cumbersome system going longer than its life-cycle.
It is well suited for non profit accounting. But there are other competing products that do the job better especially their A/P functionality. Navigator is a package I have used before and they are upgrading it from a client/server system to a web based app. A similar redesign is long overdue for MIP. It is also an impediment to our migration to the cloud.
