Overall Satisfaction with Abila MIP Fund Accounting

MIP is used for all aspects of accounting across the whole organization. It tracks childcare payments and accounts, including state and educational vouchers, apartments and their tenants; supplies, facilities, travel expenses, etc. It is also used for billing and payments for a large multi-department non-profit organization. allows tracking and assessments of accounts. Scanning and attaching (encrypted) documents prevents additionally needed storage. It is fairly easy to use for someone new to the system.
  • I like the reports function. It allows you to add or subtract the pieces of a report you need, tailoring it to the person the report is for.
  • I like that documents can be attached to any section of data, function.
  • Entering charges and payments is a fairly simple process, even for those who are not all that familiar with accounting.
  • When entering an ARB, CR, etc., you can usually just enter the id# and click start. But for some reason you still have to go around the barn and back to enter back in and view an ARC. Very annoying and time-consuming!
  • When attaching a document to an entry that has multiple lines, you have to enter into EACH line to attach. When an entry has multiple lines (I've done up to 127 lines before) attaching 127 different times is EXTREMELY time consuming. There should be an option to check/uncheck one, multiples, or all lines as soon as you click on the paperclip icon.
  • For me, finding the customers is not as easy as it could be. It would be nice if Customers was up top, like Vendors is.
  • This is a good software for a small or medium sized business, allowing tracking and following of many divisions.
  • It is difficult going back and forth between MIP and Excel. You end up using one or the other...That can be good or bad, situationally.
  • The logical flow has simplified certain aspects in the department.
We are a non-profit agency that has many multi-year projects. It has now been a couple of years since we moved to MIP and we are quite happy. Our team adapted to the new system quickly and our implementation was fairly painless. Information that was in multiple programs is now converged in one, saving time and frustration. I believe this goal has been met successfully.
For the purposes of which I use MIP, it is a very well suited program. I see that the developers are listening and responding. I cannot really speak to scenarios for which it would be less appropriate as I have limited time and interaction with the program. I could see it being very useful on a smaller scale for smaller companies than the one I work for.
