Overall Satisfaction with Absorb LMS

I'm an administrator of the LMS and use it to create curricula and courses (ILCs and online courses). It solves problems of our Learning & Development team having courses scattered across different systems. It also helps us automate our work by being able to send automated enrollment/completion messages and certificates. We serve 4,500 customers and provide courses for different subsets within that group.

Pros

  • User-friendly with icons for course creation
  • Checks before we publish courses to ensure we don't make mistakes
  • Track completion metrics for courses
  • Ease at which we can upload various types of files into courses, and the ease at which we can create curricula combining multiple courses

Cons

  • The "And" and "Or" rules for self + automatic enrollment could be spelled out more to clarify who we're enrolling into courses
  • The thumbnail and poster "Upload photo" section is confusing. There should be a "Favorites" folder where we can easily find most commonly used posters and thumbnails
  • more education around Absorb analyze essentials
  • How the Featured courses section ranks courses is confusing on the back-end. I need to switch the primary one to second place to feature the new one first. But if the previous one now becomes second place, what happens to the old course that was in second place? I've noticed the order you select on the back-end for this isn't always reflected on user side
  • Same comment as Featured Courses but for appearance of billboards. Hard to position each in the right order
  • Positive impact in terms of metrics reporting
  • positive by spreading our courses to a wider audience easily
  • improved engagement!
For the most part, it's self-explanatory and easy to use! We offer a brief instructor course for our instructors to independently enter in their course's attendance in the tool. The fact that instructors now take this on saves us a lot of time and makes me think they find it user-friendly. The parts I mentioned earlier that could be improved are what would help this tool be even more usable. Beyond this, there can be certain confusion around marking attendance for an ILC ("how does the Zoom integration work? Do I click on 'ILC Sessions' or 'ILC Activity' to load up the roster and mark attendance?"). Overall my usability has been smooth after a few years in the tool!
The support given by our rep, Melissa W., has been outstanding. Melissa always replies promptly, schedules time to really listen to our customer concerns, and addresses them in a prompt, kind, effective way. She has been a pleasure to work with.

The Absorb support team is also quite responsive! I did encounter a time when they incorrectly responded to a concern around Absorb earlier this year. When one of our learners expressed that their certificate date was incorrect, I reached out to Absorb. They looked into the issue over a matter of weeks and conduced that this was a one-off error. However, it happened again recently for a different course. Partially my fault for not reaching out to them about this second occurrence, but I think the support team could have looked into it further or asked more questions perhaps? I will reach out to them again about it!

Do you think Absorb LMS delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Absorb LMS's feature set?

Yes

Did Absorb LMS live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Absorb LMS go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Absorb LMS again?

Yes

Absorb LMS would be well-suited for functional groups with a variety of courses and curricula containing a lot of courses, for highly technical training series, and for marking attendance after the fact for in-person speaker events. We put up a QR code on the screen of our speaker events so that attendees can enroll directly upon arriving and be marked as having attended. Would not be as well suited for onboarding maybe because in my experience, if you don't have the "Manager" field populated, you can't automate messages to someone's manager. You also can't send messages to someone's manager before the new hire joins (when the manager should be completing a lot of onboaridng tasks)
