Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC
Adobe PDF files are the standard for documents that are passed back and forth to clients and engineering firms. We send out quotes, drawings, and specs in this format. PDF files are used and read by everyone in the company [using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC] but I have the only [paid version] which allows editing of the files; my coworkers have the free version. In my opinion, Adobe Acrobat makes documents that are more professional looking than Microsoft Word.
Pros
- Makes professional looking documents
- Highlighting text is simple
- Easy to use controls
Cons
- Some functions are limited to paid version
- It frequently updates - this could get annoying but also be a benefit if improvements are made
- Ease of use
- Adobe Acrobat Reader [DC] is free - however there is also a paid version
- Industry standard file
- The paid version has had a positive impact due to its features which allow editing of files.
- As its free, the Reader version has an excellent ROI
- Microsoft Office 2016 (discontinued)
From my experience, Microsoft word is typically used for lengthy documents, not business documents necessarily. Since Adobe PDF files appear to be more professional it is the default file type to send proposals, quotes, and drawings between our company and customers. For this purpose it works extremely well. A word document has the impression of being less secure as well.
