Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Captivate

We use Captivate to develop courses for the FBI. The ONLY reason we use it, is because that's what the FBI picked. The software doesn't solve any problems. We use Storyline and import the files into Captivate.
  • Be clunky.
  • Take 50 steps to do what Storyline can do in 3.
  • Crash often.
  • Annoy my employees.
  • Captivate seems like an Adobe Money Grab. Nothing more. It's the worst product for course development that has ever existed (even worse than Lectora). Tear it down and start again. Just copy Storyline.
  • There are too many settings. No need for all of that. Storyline is way easier, simpler, and robust.
  • Negative - It takes too long to develop.
  • Negative - It's limited so we have to use Storyline to develop courses and import them into Captivate.
  • Negative - The team morale has suffered and continues to suffer.
  • Negative - Our client doesn't know how skilled we truly are, because we have to use Captivate. In the past, I've actually lost clients because of the software limitations.
It's the absolute worst. Bottom of the barrel. I would never select it. The FBI selected it so my consulting agency has to use it for them.

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Adobe Captivate again?

It's not well suited for anything, in my opinion. Also the responsive features are HORRIBLE. Abandon it and just scale down the HTML.
