Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Express

Creating shareable slides for instructional purposes, using generative AI tools for students to experiment with AI in the arts and in iterative design with a given prompt. Instagram posts are typically created using Adobe Express as well, and they are then shared with a larger team to ensure we are following university brand guidelines.

Pros

  • Rich templates - templates can be searched for particular purposes.
  • Customization - Nothing is static, and everything can be modified to a granular level.
  • Generative AI
  • Background removal - it's particularly sharp, even with poor quality images

Cons

  • Creating a brand pack
  • Student engagement with our social media posts has increased.
  • Content can be generated for one context and re-shared easily.
  • Adobe products talking to each other means more sophisticated student engagement.
The templates are rich, dynamic, and varied. I have really choice and real control over my choices, and I can easily borrow from previous presentations, social media posts, and more, to create recognizable imagery to help with cohesiveness in messaging and branding. We're a university, but we still find it useful to send a clear message about what our events are. My division recently learned into our in-house branding nd Adobe Express helps ensure we stick to our brand so students know what to expect when they see and hear about our work.
I have used it with students from the middle school level to the university level and have yet to find any major obstacle. More importantly, it helps scaffold instruction - those who get it can easily hop in and get to work; those that don't are easy to teach; those that need insight are easy to enlighten.
Spark has helped me find creating social media posts easily. The file format conversion has been helpful, especially when my camera seems to decide on a format on its own.
Canva is very similar to Adobe Express, but Canva is better because of the whole Adobe suite and because the ability to customize is more intuitive. It's hard to describe why. Perhaps it's the interface.

Creating rich, engaging, dynamic presentations. Beyond typical slide creation, Adobe Express allows people to take an idea and let the template, layout, color choices, etc. speak to that. It's supremely easy to embed relevant images and videos to provide additional asynchronous support, tutorials, and user guides. More importantly, the tools are scaleable and speak to each other. Students just beginning to engage with graphic design have a gateway previously inaccessible to them. Moreover, students find the basic features appealing and intuitive.

Using Adobe Express

Adobe Express is easy to use and versatile. The ease is helpful for beginners as well as those experienced in Adobe products. Beginners benefit from a welcoming interface, with easily recognizable icons and just enough to see the possibility of flexibility without being overwhelmed by choice. Regular Adobe users benefit from a familiar interface and also note the streamlined approach, which is helpful for quicker projects or for transitioning work on other apps to a platform tailor-made for easy sharing, especially to social media. The versatility is apparent immediately in that it provides a number of templates for a wide swath of use-cases, from simple presentations, to website layouts, to more sophisticated, animated posts for social media. Beginners will gain confidence from this, while experienced users will note the ability to create and share quickly.

Yes - The mobile interface works well. It's clear where all the features of the webs version have shifted (to the bottom of the screen) and the functionality is intuitive. Even with decreased real estate, one can easily click smaller buttons. For instance, favoriting a template is as simple as clicking the heart in the upper right-hand corner of the template, even though it does appear quite small. Quick actions are also incredibly simple to utilize, since they've been placed in a prominent position on the main page of the app. The tiered organization of the home screen lends itself to easily finding a given element or action, while flipping through the immediate options is made clear by use of arrows and icons that bleed off the edge of the page. In short, one can easily utilize high-use actions and then find hidden features within a few clicks.
