Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Firefly
We have been integrating AI into our daily work process for about a year and a half now. It has been helpful in saving time by generating more accurate project images as opposed to photoshopping multiple stock image together to achieve the image needed. While we use the Photoshop and Illustrator AI tools regularly, we are now moving from Midjourney to more Firefly driven images for "from scratch" text to image needs.
Pros
- Great for fast accent image needs for brochures and projects where we don't have a lot of time/budget for extensive images searches or retouching
- Firefly has a ways to go to beat Midjourney outputs but it is promising and convenient to have the quick access and adobe integration of firefly
- While lacking a bit in creativity, again, pumping out a quick image for a project is faster with Firefly
Cons
- Just not as creative as MJ/SD
- Outputs can be a little...childish or cartoony
- Not loving the credits or paying for Firefly separately outside of the already high cloud cost
- Overall, we have eliminated one of our paid stock subscriptions since we can get a good bit of image support through Adobe AI integrations
- We are still at a bit of a break-even with firefly if you consider the credits cost and the additional "touchup" time needed when the AI generated image is not quite there.
- Again, I think in 2-3 years, Firefly will be a bigger part of our daily workload. Right now, its more of a novelty that can help with quick fixes, an icon, a background pattern...just moving towards less stock resources and towards generating our own through ai
I cannot get the product list to Midjourney/Discord, but that is the AI we started on before dabbling in Firefly. TBH, Firefly is sorely lacking in the creativity department compared to MJ. Results are often childish and a bit off until you really get the hang of the prompts needed to get something close to what you want. Midjourney beats Firefly, hands down but the convenience and hope that daily improvements will get it where it needs to be is the reason we use it.
