Having A.I. integrated into Photoshop is sooooo nice
Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Firefly
We are long-time users of Adobe's Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator. We create a lot of media and have been understandably curious about the emergent field of generative A.I., and have watched with fascination as different players have emerged on the scene. We've experimented with many AI art engines, Firefly among them. We have yet to incorporate it into any standard processes but continue to monitor its performance as we survey the field.
Pros
- I love the integration; the generative AI piece is built right into the application
- I like that I can use natural speech as a prompt, unlike some other competitors
- I love being able to target areas of an image and have Firefly enhance or complete an existing underlying image.
Cons
- When not availing myself of the feature, I find the Firefly modal inconveniently ever-present
- I've had some real unexpected/undesired results from time to time, although that's to be expected in these early days of AI-generated images
- It isn't always user-friendly, and I often have to resort to YouTube tutorials to achieve the effect I want
- Too early to tell, really
- Firefly comes included with the creative suite so ROI is harder to calculate because we aren't paying directly for the feature
- The way that we use it doesn't lend itself well to quantifiable metrics regarding effectiveness.
Firefly is really the only one that is embedded into a complementary product, so it has a huge edge right there. However, it doesn't seem to be on par yet with Midjourney or Dall-E when it comes to results of your prompts, but it's better than the other ones I listed.
