Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it as an ATS system for a recruiting business. We also use it for various other functions related to staffing as it helps with configuring payroll for contractors and managing their assignments. It is supposed to handle both sides of this business efficiently.

Pros and Cons

It's cloud based which is convenient.
It's tailored to the staffing industry so has a lot to do with the assignments and billing.
There are required fields so recruiters can't just skip steps when they feel like rushing.

This is the worst ATS I've ever used. It's hard to find what you need. It's not set up in a coherent manner and things are all over the place.
I have to download a resume just to view it.
The parse function only works in Internet Explorer and it works poorly then. Makes it impossible to tell if its actually a duplicate because it flags everything.
No section for meaningful notes. Notes are all just reports of action.
No way to make it efficient for direct hires. All geared towards staffing so it makes you fill out non-sense information that will be inaccurate and irrelevant just to satisfy field requirements.

Return on Investment

The company has pumped enough money into trying to make Akken good that they aren't interested in changing again.
Seriously a terrible ATS which slows people down due to the useless functions.
More time lost from people needing to fix issues that arise due to the system requirements.

Alternatives Considered

I've used Sendouts, Bullhorn, Primepoint, and ADP's Workforce Now. If I had been here, I would have never selected Akken. It is truly the worst ATS I've ever seen and I can't believe they are in business. It blows my mind because they are really a horrible, horrible ATS.

Support Rating

I give it a 1 because I couldn't give it a Zero. Horrible functionality, very ugly interface, and incredibly unfriendly to use. This system will offer nothing positive. It will only slow you down and make your workplace much more inefficient. If you are in the staffing industry where fast-paced is a way of life, this will only hurt you in the end.

Akken could be described to be suitable for a staffing company but just spend more money on a product that is worthwhile. It is really a terrible ATS and it's a sad fact that I was not here for the selection process. Apparently people pushed for Bullhorn but it was deemed too expensive. That is shortsighted.

If you're considering Akken, run in the opposite direction!
