Overall Satisfaction with Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)

We have IAAS setup for a specific customer and use MySQL via Amazon RDS and it works great. This product allows us to easily migrate and backup different databases and recover them in the event that anything happens. We work in a small environment, so we are not dealing with any large databases by any means. I am unable to provide a review on that aspect.

Pros

  • User Friendly
  • Migration
  • Backup

Cons

  • Getting started
  • More online courses
Like I've mentioned earlier in this review, I don't yet have much experience in rival databases or other cloud based RDS systems. I hope that I am able to try out some others in the future but for now we are very content with what we have and plan to continue to use it for the foreseeable future.

Do you think Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)'s feature set?

Yes

Did Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) again?

Yes

There are not many things wrong with Amazon RDS (mySQL in particular). It does exactly what we need it to do and we will be using it for the foreseeable future. We may branch off into other RDS services provided by AWS on the cloud, but for now we plan to stick with mySQL.
