Overall Satisfaction with ArcGIS

I use ArcGIS in different ways to map different facilities and help our sales teams drive efforts in finding new leads. They find it helpful in terms of geography to where and how they can get products to potential customers and value to win contracts. It is beneficial with the multiple tools within the application that help this effort.

Pros

  • Mapping
  • Analysis
  • Detailed Charting

Cons

  • Training
  • So much functionality can be overwhelming
  • Sales process took a while
  • Good insight
  • Higher sales numbers
  • Relationship building
ArcGIS is a fully functioning software that allows for in-depth analysis with mapping and chart capabilities. It allows users to tell stories and dive deeper when presenting detailed analysis. I wish there were more training opportunities with the system to get up to speed quicker since the system is so robust and has a learning curve. It can provide a lot of new creative insights that users did not think about before.
N/A, I have not used any other tools like ArcGIS. While I know Tableau does a lot of the same things, I cannot compare the two.

Do you think ArcGIS delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with ArcGIS's feature set?

Yes

Did ArcGIS live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of ArcGIS go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy ArcGIS again?

Yes

ArcGIS is well suited for many different needs. It is well suited for us as we use this space to help mapping our facilities and different USDA statistics that we can overlay and see the production of different crops and fields. I wish they had more useful cases of training during the sales process or some help in creating a vision with ideas.

Evaluating ArcGIS and Competitors

  • Scalability
  • Ease of Use
The main decisions for choosing ArcGIS were ease of use and scalability. Only a few people on our team were going have licenses, so these would be our expert users and build them up to then train future users. Once these expert users were comfortable with building out materials, we had then planned to scale up what we could and potentially loop in IT to help with integrated data.
Overall our process would not have changed. The ArcGIS tool is very comprehensive and full of different capabilities depending on organization and industry. The licenses were not too expensive to consider having multiple admin licenses to build out materials for the organization. If we were not mid-implementation, we would have been able to spend more time learning and training the ins and outs of the system.
