Overall Satisfaction with Autodesk AEC Collection
We use Autodesk AEC Collection to design our BIM models, create bill of materials, for clash detection, cloud storage and collaboration, and dynamo scripting. It helps us accurately plan our construction projects and predict problems before they arise. We are also able to share the models with subcontractors to allow us to coordinate scheduling and avoid installation conflicts.
Pros
- Clash Detection
- Bill of material creation
- Phase planning and material requirements
Cons
- Dynamo scripting can be challenging if you are not proficient in python
- Maintaining correct versions of models
- Easier database editing via excel
- Significant material savings with accurate Bill of Materials
- Labor savings using clash detection
- Avoiding delays using coordination and collaboration
- Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro, Autodesk Build, Autodesk Docs, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Fabrication ESTmep, CADmep, and CAMduct, BuildingConnected, an Autodesk product and Autodesk Fusion
Each of these pieces of software has a different use and focus. Some overlap with each other and some are components of Autodesk AEC Collection, such as Autodesk Fabrication CADmep. They are all well designed and powerful applications that help us with everything from planning to design and collaboration. We use all of them and will continue to explore other Autodesk products that may help our organization grow and accomplish more.
