Overall Satisfaction with Autodesk Inventor
Autodesk Inventor is being used as the primary 3D CAD software for all products the company provides. Daily we use all the features including part and assembly creation, IPNs (for exploded views) and the IDWs (for all drawings). We have also used the built-in software for FEA. Autodesk Inventor is only being used by engineering and solves all of our needs for current part revision and new product development.
- Intuitive Part/Assembly creation.
- Simple drawings with the ability to save to different formats.
- Library control for common parts.
- Creating an IPN in a separate file other than the drawing never made sense
- Errors in the model tree are never clearly defined
- Better control over parts when files are moved around (parent/child relationships)
- Negative - Time spent making/updating IPNs rather than just working on drawings.
- Using in conjunction with Vault has made revision control a dream.
- Simple (easy) CAD creation has made for fast product revisions and turn around.
- PTC Creo and SOLIDWORKS
As previously mentioned in an earlier question, Autodesk Inventor has found the happy middle ground for my 3D CAD needs. Autodesk is easy to pick up but complex enough to allow for all our CAD needs to be filled. I personally didn't select Autodesk Inventor (it was what the company had when I was hired), but I would choose it over everything else.
