Overall Satisfaction with Auvik

I signed up for the 14-day free trial. It was fairly easy to set up initial devices but took some time to gather all credentials and SNMP v3 information. I also had to touch each device to add the Auvik sensor to the ACL.

Pros

  • Network monitoring for device up/down
  • Performance metric and trending on devices
  • Syslog

Cons

  • Initial setup randomly picks one of the NIC's if you have multiple.
  • Network Mapping
  • log corrilation
  • It could have a price advantage for a small location if most of the devices are nonbillable
  • Cloud based, so no on site hardware required
  • Uses 2FA for management
  • SolarWinds Log Analyzer (LA) and SolarWinds Network Configuration Manager (NCM)
I did not have enough time in the 14-day trial to compare.

I had to manually add info for some devices, it could not automatically detect every device.
