Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Barracuda Essentials is amazing! We had a need to better protect our 30 Office 365 email users from Spam, Phishing and other Malware. Barracuda Essentials solved that problem for us and also filters out Spam from our incoming email. It was so easy to get it configured and working and management is a breeze. Our users are MUCH better protected now.

Pros and Cons

Barracuda Essentials Spam Filtering works and it is very easy to add or remove senders from the Spam filter lists.
Barracuda Essentials provides excellent protection from Phishing and other Malware.
Barracuda Essentials email encryption is so easy to use and easy to setup. Our users love it.

The Barracuda Essentials menus are very extensive and thus can be a little complicated for some users. Maybe a little more description on some of the tabs and options?

Return on Investment

Our users feel more comfortable since they receive a lot less Spam and phishing emails and the love how easy it is to send Encrypted emails.
Our management feels more comfortable that our entire internal network is safer due to Barracuda Essentials protecting our incoming emails and helping prevent Ransomware and other Malware emails.
Barracuda Essentials is so unobtrusive that the users don't even notice it's working in the background. They just see the results in their inbox with fewer junk mails.

Alternatives Considered

We really didn't evaluate any other products. We considered using the filtering features that come with our Office 365 subscription, but just didn't feel it was sufficient protection for our business. Being a medical clinic, we felt like we needed to implement the best solution for our email protection and we found Barracuda Essentials was the leader.

Support Rating

I've only had to contact support once since we've been using Barracuda Essentials and the support was excellent! Quick response and a very qualified support representative to assist me with my setup. In the end, my issue was with my domain host and not with Barracuda Essentials but the support representative worked with me to get things resolved and working.

Usability

Barracuda Essentials is very easy to use since it really doesn't take any effort from the user other than clicking one button to send outgoing encrypted emails when needed. Management is very easy and there really isn't much to do other than add/remove email addresses and/or domains from the Spam filtering lists.

Barracuda Essentials is a critical piece for protecting their users from all of the Malware, Spam, Viruses and Phishing emails that are flowing around now. If you have email in a business setting, you need Barracuda Essentials to protect your users.
