BDRSuite - A Great Solution for Hyper-V
Overall Satisfaction with BDRSuite
I use BDRSuite on the servers for my clients. They are my primary go-to for backup purposes. I set up my clients' servers in a Windows Server Hyper-V environment. BDRSuite backs up each of the VMs on each of my servers and sends me reports of its successes/failures daily. When an issue comes up and I can't resolve it personally - Vembu's technical support team is prompt to respond. Sometimes it takes longer than others for them to get to the bottom of an issue but they will stay on the case until the issue is resolved.
- Backup my entire server and VMs in Hyper-V
- Sync offsite to other remotely located servers
- Provides backup reliability reports
- Language barrier when dealing with issues
- Time zone issues with support
- Not all support agents are thoroughly trained and they need to escalate often
- Neutral
- I can say that I have never not been able to restore files - as needed
The single most important factor is reliability. Their backup reports provide me with peace of mind.
Their availability to support in the event there are issues is important. Sometimes language barriers or time zones are an issue, but I am confident they will eventually get back to me.

I only use physical backups and my own offsite servers to sync backups. They have performed satisfactorily. The offsite sync is a bit slow but they do allow you to preload the backup data on the offsite server to minimize the time to sync both servers.
I tried Veeam and Microsoft's built-in BU. It was OK, but price, performance, and features caused BDRSuite to win out
