Overall Satisfaction with BlackLine
Blackline is being used in our Accounting Shared Services department. We use the tasks, account reconciliations, transaction matching and CIM modules. Blackline helps increase the efficiency and visibility of these processes. We are currently implementing the Journals module that will be used in coordination with reconciliations and matching.
- Transaction matching eliminates the need for "rainbow" spreadsheets (manual excel matching). It increases the visibility and control of items. It can be a huge time saver.
- The task module is a great way to manage items or responsibilities. Inclusion of up to date and accurate purpose and procedures helps when tasks transition between team members.
- Consolidation Integrity Module has simplified the reconciliation between the consolidation software and our general ledger system. It was a great improvement to our processes.
- The journal entry module does not allow users to tab between fields in the templates and online forms.
- In transaction matching, I would like to see the ability to match two transactions that net to zero within the same data source.
- In static transaction matching, I would like to see the option to allow the preparer to approve suggested matches.
- Transaction matching has had a positive impact on our cash account reconciliation. We are now able to reconcile the account within the closing cycle without additional overtime hours.
- The task module has also increased visibility. It has allowed us the opportunity to move different tasks to earlier time frames helping spread out the work load.
- The CIM module has decreased the preparation time by at least 50 percent. The control and reliability of the reconciliation has also been improved significantly.
