Overall Satisfaction with Bluehost

I used Bluehost to manage website assets for various small businesses that wanted a website designed and hosted. I also used it to manage domain name records.
  • Hosting tools were fairly intuitive.
  • Billing was never a hassle.
  • Working with Bluehost support to move domains around (or away from Bluehost) was extremely difficult.
  • Support team had a slow turnaround time in my experience with them.
  • Hosting through Bluehost was affordable for the services provided.
  • WordPress compatibility was a plus for some of our client base.
I originally started in Bluehost when I took on a portfolio of existing business websites to manage. In an effort to consolidate my client base into one hosting service, I opted to move hosting and domains to GoDaddy, who is my preferred hosting service. When I started the moving procedure, Bluehost made it extremely difficult to move assets, domains, and pretty much do anything with the account that involved removals or cancellation; their support team didn't want to help with anything of that nature as well. I'm hoping their support has improved to those looking to move to (or from) Bluehost make it easier in the future.
If you're starting your website from scratch (i.e. purchasing a domain, looking for affordable hosting for newly created assets), then Bluehost will probably work fine for your needs. However, bear in mind that if you want to move to a competitor, Bluehost doesn't make it particularly easy to accomplish that.
