Overall Satisfaction with Bluehost

We attempted to implement Bluehost as our hosting provider last year after our web host unexpectedly ceased operations. We had heard good things about Bluehost, and we read many positive reviews on the internet about them being WordPress friendly, so we decided to give them a chance. That was unfortunate for us, a severe error.
  • If you have a very simple website and lack Substantial knowledge of how to code, this is your Host!
  • User interface is very simple and cleanly laid out
  • Bluehost is very simple. For us, it was a little too simple
  • It is harder to customize your site within Bluehost
  • Did not accomplish any objectives that we set out to achieve.
  • Wasted time by moving and migrating a site to a platform that we quickly had to migrate off of again just a few weeks later.
Bluehost did not stack up against HostGator; in fact, HostGator was where we ended up migrating after we realized Bluehost was not for us. Bluehost is not geared toward businesses, especially ones like ours that have a very customized site. HostGator allowed us the customization that we needed, and their prices were terrific.
When we decided to migrate away from Bluehost, a quick call to their tech-support solved most of our problems, and we immediately got our money back. They did — to their credit — try to accommodate us, but they realize that we needed something else that they couldn’t accommodate. And once that realization set in, customer service immediately refunded us our money.

Do you think Bluehost delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Bluehost's feature set?

No

Did Bluehost live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Bluehost go as expected?

No

Would you buy Bluehost again?

No

If you have a straightforward website or a simple blog and don’t know a lot of HTML or CSS or can’t edit code in any way, Bluehost is perfect. For us, there are tweaks that we like to make to our WordPress pages that Bluehost could not accommodate, and therefore it was no longer a viable option for my company.
