Overall Satisfaction with BlueJeans

I work for a professional membership organisation with over a hundred board and specialist committee members that are dispersed across the country.
We frequently hold meetings at our HQ that requires flights and accommodations for the attendees.
Our organisation looked at ways to reduce the cost of running the meetings by using videoconferencing technology.
  • Ease of use - very intuitive interface for non-technical end users.
  • Different platforms supported - we don't have control of end user devices and Blue jeans support all platforms ranging from in-room systems to mobile Apps.
  • Customer supports - prompt and efficient support
  • Although BlueJeans has browser plugins, the attendees are steered toward installing the desktop app, which can sometimes confuse non-technical users.
  • Lack of in-meeting features such as 'raise hand' which is a standard meeting feature.
  • The typical cost of a face to face meeting is over $5000; the product pays for itself only after a few meetings.
  • Able to have shorter, more frequent meetings.
  • Time saved in travelling.
  • Positive engagement compared to audio only calls.
We reviewed Zoom; however, we found the interface and experience is more refined with BlueJeans.
Update: With the explosion in the use of online meetings during COVID-19, Zoom has become the benchmark for video conferencing platforms. While I still feel BlueJeans offer a better user interface, it lacks many features that is expected from online meetings.
Simple, intuitive and devices supported. Also have dial-in numbers in case problem with video connectivity or band with issues.
The meeting invites are automatically emailed to participants that can be saved to their calendar. Our organisation use Microsoft Teams for internal collaboration due to the fact it seamlessly integrates with other Microsoft business applications. However, we still use BlueJeans for our external meetings for its familiarity. We'll evaluate BlueJeans against other platforms close to the yearly subscription renewal time.
BlueJeans is well suited in an organisation that does not have control of the connecting devices due to having a vast number of platforms and technology that it supports. However, the lack of key in-meeting features such as 'raise hand' forces us to evaluate its competitor's services.
