Overall Satisfaction with Bonterra Network for Good

We use Bonterra Network for Good to keep track of all of the donations sent to our organization. We send thank you letters to all donors the month of their donation as well as at the end of the year for tax purposes. We also use Bonterra Network for Good to send emails and letters to thank our donors apart from donations and we use it to do our annual letter every year.

Pros

  • The donation software is very user friendly to add donations to.
  • The report section is very easy to use and to run what you need.
  • The contact portion is extremely user friendly and is easy to keep track of donors, what they've paid and communication to them.

Cons

  • The only problem we have had is when we type something in Word and try to copy and paste into Bonterra Network for Good. It does not always format properly. Also, there are limited fonts to choose from and sometimes there are size issues when trying to get everything universal.
  • Customer service is usually slow to respond.
  • It saves a TON of time! We used to enter donations into Excel and that was very inefficient.
  • The report aspect is very beneficial. We can run reports and find out who the lapsed donors are, who gave within a certain time frame, who are new donors, etc. This is invaluable to us because it lets us know who we need to reach out to and we can do it straight through this software.
  • We also have a link directly on our website so that people can donate directly through Bonterra Network for Good. They keep track of those donors and we get a printout and deposit every month. It's very helpful and time saving. If someone wants to pay by credit card, which we do not accept in office, we direct them to Bonterra Network for Good so that they can pay that way.
Most definitely! We write our donor letters through Bonterra Network for Good. We can run reports to see exactly who we need to target for that particular letter or campaign. The donation tracking portion of this software is very user friendly, even to someone with minimal tech skills. It has numerous reporting options to narrow down donors to particular data and has the ability to duplicate previous letters and emails so that you can adjust them for the target audience which saves a ton of time.
It does so much. It does everything we need. The only negatives we have experienced is the formatting issue and that is easily remedied. It just takes a little extra time, but is not a big deal. This software does everything we need and is super easy to use. It is so much easier than using mail merge programs and is extremely user friendly. It is not confusing to use at all and is very easy to train people to use.
Givebutter is not as user friendly, even though it is fairly easy to use. Bonterra Network for Good has many of the same options for running donor campaigns but goes beyond in data tracking and user friendliness. Bonterra Network for Good is extremely easy to learn. The only downside is the cost factor.

Would you buy Bonterra Network for Good again?

Yes

It is very user friendly for nonprofits. There are many options for reaching out and running donation campaigns. It is extremely easy to keep track of donations monthly and to make sure all end of the year tax letters are sent. We have been using it for several years with very little problems. The only downside I would say, is the cost. It is very expensive for nonprofits, especially when there are lower cost software out there.

Using Bonterra Network for Good

3 - Finance, Administrative Assistant, Marketing and Fundraising
3 - We are a homeless shelter and we use it to keep track of donors, reach out to donors and see if our donations are up or down. It is so user friendly that you don't need any prior skills to use it.
  • Donation tracking
  • Individual donor management
  • Fundraising efforts through letters and emails
  • End of year tax letters to donors
  • We have been able to get info from it when QuickBooks Online has had quirks. We didn't lose info and could find the information that had gone missing. We can use it as a tool to make sure everything is in properly if for some reason something wasn't saved properly or disappeared due to some sort of "update".
  • Fundraising is one of our biggest concerns for the future. We use it for all of our needs at the moment, however, we may need to learn and use the auction or the event portions in the future.
It does everything we need and we have been using it for 5+ years. It has all of our historical data in it and we all know how to use it. My only concern is cost.

Evaluating Bonterra Network for Good and Competitors

  • Ease of Use
It needs to be user friendly because most of our staff have minimal technology skills. We are also fairly understaffed for the work we do, so the software needs to be easy to use and efficient.
There are a lot more programs out there now but this does everything we need. The cost factor is the only downside.

Bonterra Network for Good Implementation

Change management was a minor issue with the implementation
  • Just learning the new program. We had a good IT person who was able to integrate it into our organization just fine.

Bonterra Network for Good Training

Configuring Bonterra Network for Good

I think it's acceptable just the way it is. I can honestly say we have never had issues with that part of it. It's very organized and easy to move around.
No, we use it as it comes standard. The reports we configure but that's about it.
No - we have not done any customization to the interface
No - we have not done any custom code
No we have not. We have used it as is and it works just fine for what we use it for.

Bonterra Network for Good Support

ProsCons
Problems get solved
Kept well informed
Slow Resolution
Difficult to get immediate help
Slow Initial Response
Not that I know of. We have had it for 5+ years and use the chat feature when we have problems. It just takes a long time to hear back from someone and then you submit an answer to their question and it takes hours to hear back again. We have not had good luck with customer service.
We have used it a few times but never really had a great experience with the customer service aspect of this program.
Support is very slow to respond. When they do, it usually takes a while to get an answer or you have to explain more of what you need. I don't like getting articles to read to figure out my problems. I try to search for a fix before I go to the customer service option and want someone to just simply answer the question.

  • Donation tracking
  • Contact/donor information
  • Communication letters and emails
  • Formatting from one program to Bonterra Network for Good is sometimes difficult. That is the only complaint we have had in 5+ years.

Bonterra Network for Good Reliability

It works for the departments we need it in, finance, administration and fundraising and marketing. It does everything we need.
In 5+ years we have never had an issue with it not working when we needed it to. It is very reliable and doesn't seem to have a lot of bugs or interruptions in service.
It is always fast for us and reports have a very quick upload time. We don't integrate it into other programs so I'm not 100% sure about that, but it always works when we use it and is very reliable. Even when we run Excel files for complete information on donors, it always works very fast.

Integrating Bonterra Network for Good

  • File import/export
I have exported to Excel and it worked just fine.
We haven't done too much with this part of it.

Relationship with Bonterra

I wasn't there when we switched but I imaging they were pretty good to work with or we wouldn't have been using them for 5+ years!
Again, I was not there during the sale but imagine we would have gotten rid of them had they not been good to work with.
