Overall Satisfaction with Braintree
Our entire organization uses Braintree to process credit card payments from our clients. Particularly the monthly auto-pay clients. Braintree automatically bills them every month and has quite a few subscription options for different kinds of packages, timelines, and discounts you may offer subscribers. We are also able to manually key in transactions which is helpful because we have clients who prefer to pay over the phone. We work with clients across the country and internationally as well so an in-office card reader isn't ideal.
Pros
- Low rates on their credit card processing fees
- No monthly payment to use them.
- Recurring payments is one of their most important features
- Has integration options with many online shopping carts
Cons
- The backend is basic and not user friendly for most users
- They used to offer no processing fees for your first year before Paypal bought them
- It is developer focused. So the average person may have trouble setting it up or using it
- Simplified billing so we spend less time on it
- Saved $20 a month or more when compared to alternatives that have a monthly charge.
- It gives peace of mind because we know that any service we use in the future will likely integrate with Braintree
Paypal's Business plan has a monthly charge in addition to the per transaction charges if you'd like to use recurring billing. Braintree gives you recurring billing options without the monthly charge and automatically sends a transaction receipt to the client each month. Once it is set up it is completely hands off which saves a lot of time.
Bank of America merchant products. They charge extra for setups that include manually entered credit cards. They also have high start up costs that would take a while to pay for themselves due since we don't process enough transactions to make it worthwhile.
