Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Aironet and Catalyst Access Points

We used Cisco Aironet and Catalyst Access Points in every legislative office. The focus was to provide coverage, individually, for each councilor in their room. Ensuring network quality, for web browsing and online meetings and events. We control access in a segmented way, with each room having a unique SSID, with access restricted to only the employees who worked there.
  • Stable connection
  • Definition of QoS, ensuring quality for online meetings
  • Ease of installation
  • Cost of access points
  • Support and licensing cost
  • 33 councilors satisfied with the quality of their wireless signal.
  • Agility in communication and interaction between sectors.
Speaking specifically of Cisco CleanAir, it provides an excellent scenario for the analysis of interference, spectrum quality, and signal, among other useful information. This helps us to keep the environment in maximum use, helping, including, the best location and disposition of the installation of the Access Points. Undoubtedly, it is something extremely necessary, not optional.
We do not currently use any add-ons. We understand that there are many useful plugins for the environment, however, we don't think it's necessary to use them in ours for now. It's something very "personal", the fact that we don't use it doesn't mean it can't be useful in other situations and/or environments.
The usage scenario was different. I don't see this as a benefit versus harm comparison, necessarily. What happened was that, at a certain point, the implementation of the cisco solution was the winner of our public bidding process and with that, we implemented it and have used it ever since.

In general, Access Points can be used in any environment as long as an efficient site survey is carried out so that there are no blind spots or even interference from other devices. It is important to ensure an infrastructure with conditions in order to take full advantage of the APS.

Cisco Hybrid Work

  • Cisco DNA Spaces
  • Cisco DNA Center
  • Working from anywhere (e.g., coffee shop, airport)
  • Working from home
It is a difficult job to implement remote work or hibrid in the public sector, here the pandemic ended up forcing us to follow this model. We created an entire infrastructure to provide work outside the office. The biggest challenge was defining performance metrics for employees, we used several solutions to keep teams together, such as cisco webex, and several others
We had several, but I can say that those related to information security are the most critical. We implemented VPN circuits to provide more security for our data, we chose to use linux-based systems on our clients to reduce the possibility of viruses or other malware. We also adopted tools that would help distant teams, such as redmine and nextcloud to share files and projects in a remote and agile way.
An important point to mention is that, recently, we performed an update of our entire fleet of cisco equipment, acquired cisco catalyst 9105AX series access point, among other services. Cisco solutions guarantee us stability and reliability at the network and security level, providing easy adaptability and resilience to problems that may arise, today, our entire legislative voting system revolves around the Cisco solution.
Freedom and quality of life are the terms we hear most when we talk about remote and hybrid work here in our organization. Ensuring the flexibility for teams from different sectors to work wherever and however they want generates more results than the traditional model of working in the full-time office.
Support from the Cisco team, whether for hybrid working solutions or not, has always been great for us. The possibility of being able to count on a company that is committed to fulfilling its levels of service agreement and contracts, brings us immense tranquility and confidence to be able to continue using such products and solutions.
