Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches

  • Catalyst 3560-CX Series
We use these for small network popup areas where only a minimal footprint is required. Having eight or 12 ports, plus two optional uplink ports with either copper or fiber as an option is a great thing to have.
  • Multiple VLAN support
  • POE access for numerous items--WAPs, VOIP phones, security cameras--flawlessly
  • Small footprint in both size and power; easy setup
  • The switches can run hot at times, but it is managed well
  • Very few bad issues to report--occasional failures but very infrequent
  • Much less investment and no need to buy 24- to 48-port switches when not needed
  • Much less power and physical footprint taken
We have multiple power outages for turnaround areas, and these switches perform outstanding. We use these to extend access to virtual workstations, servers, and also VOIP phones without any issues.
We run a script and can deploy these switches within minutes. We have had less than 2% failure on these switches over the years and have purchased hundreds.
The ease of network management of multiple VLANs makes the Cisco option the top choice for us. Many other network switches do not provide the full network management and functionality we need to support multiple VLANs and devices. Other switch models that are similar can be too costly.

Yes

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Catalyst Switches again?

Yes

These are great for small workgroup areas. We use them for equipment turnaround areas, where a small network is set up briefly. We use both copper and fiber to uplink, and they perform very well under both circumstances, handling phone, camera, handheld device, PC, and wireless access traffic for the area.
