Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst 9100 Access Points

Cisco Access Point
We have deployed more than 1800+ Cisco Catalyst 9100 Access Points throughout our organization. This was the solution we used to replace access points from a different vendor as we shifted to Cisco platform. These models are being used both indoor and outdoor locations and as well as for high density areas.

Pros

Cons

  • The 2800's can be more slimmer
  • These AP's has been running for more than 3yrs and already paid for itself
  • with thousands of AP's deployed and with minimal bad/defect units, the money is well spent on these AP's
We have great experience with the Cisco Catalyst 9100 Access Points as we have not encountered any major issues throughout the deployment and we have been using them for more than 3yrs and we are now doing a new hardware refresh and will still purchase from Cisco.
These APs can be deployed using a WLC or embedded WLC that suits well for small, medium, or large organizations. Mesh capability is also a plus to extend the range to certain unreachable areas without getting a different solution from multiple vendors.
It takes about a couple of weeks to received the shipment. We contract our physical AP install through another vendor and we can deploy around 50 APs per night during the non-business hours of our sites. The APs automatically provision itself and is operational after a couple of hours once the software gets updated from the controller. We are fully functioning by the following installation day.

These APs are really well suited for medium to large enterprise organization as the management of these devices are through a single management console.
