Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers

Currently we are migrating 8540 to 9800 for our wireless infrastructure and implementing WiFi 6E. Along the way we are facing some obstacles however, Cisco is assisting us to overcome those issues.

Pros

  • Manage WAPs well
  • Provide granular insight

Cons

  • we would like to get some more filter included to drill down further
  • We were using 8540 and had to upgrade to 9800
We use 9800 WLC in HA. We feel that the product is still maturing. We had to go through some unscheduled downtime due to some issues with the OS code.
We had to restart controllers.
Yes, it does suit our need at the Organisation.

Yes

We have a fleet of 6000+ WAPs in our fleet and the controller is able to meet our expectation.
