Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers Review
Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers
We use it for one of our new locations. It helped us to establish new 6 GHz radio band which we couldn't with previous product. For now we have 300+ clients using this product and it will get larger. Policy, profile and tag system was pretty simple and helpful. Also new HA options are very good.
Pros
- High Availability
- Monitoring
- Segmentation
Cons
- Client Radio statistics should be on a table which can be exported as excel file
- More REST API support
- Better DCA functions
- Decreased our man/hour numbers for dealing wifi issues
- Good monitoring helped us with MDM based SSID
- Security capabilities helped us with security audits
- Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
Having Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers along with Cisco Identity Services helped us with seamless Guest and BYOD services due to both being produced by Cisco because there are lots of documentation, TAC Support and Cisco Community topics helps a lot. Also profiling becomes more easy with having both ends being Cisco products.
Flexible policy options help a lot for controlling our wireless environment. Various SSID with policy based management helps a lot with segmentation.
