Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches
- Catalyst 2960 X/XR Series
We have utilized Cisco Catalyst Switches at remote office locations for years for network connectivity, including VOIP. We expected Cisco reliability, so we have very few issues with them. They're easy to update and make configuration changes. We have, and will continue to use and recommend Cisco network products.
- Port security features are nice
- TACACS/RADIUS functionality
- If your use case is not too large, these are a great price point for the feature sets
- Scalability
- Smartnet is on the expensive side
- Fiber port capacity could be increased
- More L3 options
- Initial investment can seem high, but with the long term reliability, it's worth it.
- Ease of management for one or 2 FTEs across an organization with 1,000 employees and multiple locations is very achievable.
- Ongoing maintenance is an attractive aspect, as they basically run themselves once configured.
Utilizing DNA center to manage the switches has been very easy. The ability to stack the switches has proved very useful and convenient for rack space. Port security and DHCP snooping were relatively easy to set up and very useful.
We strictly use Cisco networking devices based on past reliability and ease of ongoing management.
