Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches
- Catalyst 2960 X/XR Series
We are currently using Cisco Catalyst Switches in a few of our site. These are great for IDF purposes, which is how we are leveraging them in our environment. These help us to ensure network uptime because they are rock solid and stable, from a known leader in networking equipment solutions.
- Great for IDFs
- They have amazing reliability and run uninterrupted for years
- Cisco products are great, but they generally are more expensive than other brands
- Perhaps reduced noise is something that can be improved upon
- Since most of our equipment is Cisco, the setup was a breeze due to our familiarity with the Cisco IOS.
- Once properly configured, these are extremely stable and will run without issues/interruptions for many years.
We mostly just utilize the standard features of these Catalyst switches, so the advanced customization does not really apply to our environment.
We selected the Cisco Catalyst Switches since that is what we have mostly (historically) deployed and are familiar with. We have since started to add some Palo Alto firewalls to our environment. I think the UI is better on the Palo Alto, but if you are familiar with Cisco, it is must easier to configure the Cisco devices.
