Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC series appliances)

We use Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC series appliances) to manage our IPS/IDS in the environment. We have multiple offices, each with their own IPS/IDS that connects back to Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC series appliances). We only use Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC series appliances) for Firepower on ASA and not FTD in our environment. We also use Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC series appliances) to prioritize traffic based on application. And we monitor applications that are passing through firewalls.
  • Easy configuration for device managment
  • Clean dashboard
  • Good data for application use
  • Logs are a bit cluttered; should be an easier search function
  • GUI is a bit outdated
  • QoS not available for Firepower
  • Single plane of managemnet for IPS/IDS
  • Application-based monitoring
  • Same platform for FTDs in the future
There are no other products that can manage the IPS/IDS from Cisco.

If there are multiple IPS/IDS modules in the ASA that need to be managed, Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC series appliances) is a great addition for a single plane of management. There are QoS policies, inspection policies that can be added. Application-specific rules can be added and the database for the applications is large. And administration is easy and clean.
