Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Meraki MG

We use it as a backup internet option for our retail environment, so that way if the primary internet connection goes down the MG 2020 unit kicks over for cellular access so that way the retail environment can still do their sales.

Pros

  • It's fantastic for being in the Meraki dashboard and actually looking at quality of signal. I can look at up times, down times, ease of use when it comes to if I would have to reboot the MG 21E in case it does have a problem.
  • Overall reliability: since we switched to the MG 21 E, we've rarely have a problem with it when it comes to the cellular performance going down.

Cons

  • Maybe the built-in DHCP options on it could probably be tweaked a little bit because we have had issues where if we reboot our MX unit and the MG 21E tries to hand out DHCP addresses, which has caused an issue. So that's one thing that I would say could probably use some tweaking.
  • Extremely positive because we haven't really had to worry about it going down.
I'm a big believer in the Meraki dashboard. I love it. Our entire organization uses Meraki products from the MX to the MS to others for access points to DMGs. So it's a fantastic environment to be in. I really do love it.
MX 68s as our primary security appliance for our retail environment. The biggest benefit is that if our primary internet connection goes down, our stores can still support the mission by being able to complete their sales process.
The only other cellular provider that we've evaluated was, I think it was called Sky Link, and it was a little USB module that plugged into the Meraki MXs and we had nothing but problems with it, which is why we ended up switching to the MG 20 ones.

Yes

Did Cisco Meraki MG live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Meraki MG again?

Yes

Definitely well-suited for a backup for a retail environment. We have had to use it as a primary internet connection when our fiber wasn't brought in in time and we had no issues with it running. It was able to withstand the temporary load on it until we were able to get the circuit provided.
