Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Nexus Series Switches
We use Cisco NEXUS Series Switches as our datacenter backbone for all connectivity within our datacenters. A platform that is both familiar and extremely competent within this sector. Using it to deliver MSP services to hundreds of customers and internal services.
Pros
- Very stable operations, both hardware and software.
- Ease of automation using NXAPI.
- Ease of administration, familiarity for most Network Engineers that have worked with Cisco platforms before.
Cons
- Microsegmentation is a feature on the way but not yet mature.
- Simpler upgrade operations and boot modes.
- Scrap the golden images and multiple reboot when patching.
- Quick delivery and great pricing for new deployments.
- Compatible integrations with legacy Datacenter enviroments.
- Enables a smooth transition from older Datacenter fabrics to the new VXLAN based fabrics.
The feature parity is on par within all but the familiarity working with NEXUS equipment is a sales point for most companies.
