Overall Satisfaction with Cisco NX-OS
We used Cisco NX-OS on our various Cisco Nexus 7000, 5000, 4000, and 1000V deployments. It is being used globally or across the whole organization. It resolves the following business problems we have:
1. Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) - for centralization and administration of our connected departments.
2. Virtual PortChannel - we required to have Layer 2 multipathing without changing the existing deployments.
3. Software compatibility - we needed to have flexibility with other network OS.

- Software compatibility
- Virtual PortChannel
- Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)
- Port profiles
- Autolearn feature for network security configuration - it is not learning as expected and performance is poor.
- Etheranalyzer - WireShark is more user friendly.
- Locator/ID Separation Protocol (LISP) - it's too complex to set up.
- It provides 99.9999% availability to us. Devices with Cisco NX-OS very seldom have availability issues.
- Great ROI due to bundled features, easy deployment, and responsive after-sales support.
- It has fewer vulnerabilities detected or exploited in comparison with other network OS.
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and CentOS
Cisco NX-OS is more advantageous in terms of return-of-investment, built-in functionalities, regular updates or patches, and security compliance. Competitors mentioned for sure lack one or two items that I stated that Cisco NX-OS has. Also, very notable is the good after-sales support in which competitors need more improvement in comparison to Cisco NX-OS.
