Overall Satisfaction with Cisco NX-OS
This Cisco NX-OS switches were used as main switches by my client. It solved the business points like providing high performance in its job. EIGRP and VXLAN were configured on these without slowing down their performance. This NX-OS operating system run switches are mature enough and these NX-OS switches run for long durations without any issues.
Pros
- A highly matured Cisco NX-OS operating system.
- Provides high performance.
- Runs longer duration with less issues.
Cons
- Few bugs with intel chipsets were noticed.
- None apart from this were observed.
- Stable NX-OS gives peace of mind.
- Performance and security is top class.
- Documentation is very good to learn and refer later.
Cisco switches running on NX-OS provided high security. Expanding the network with these switches was a breeze. It was easy to use to configure VPN. This switch provides good throughput and good reliability. NX-OS run switches are good for medium to high-sized businesses.
- Junos Network Operating System (Junos OS) and Huawei CloudEngine Data Center Switches
When compared to these data center switches, I think Cisco Nx-OS based data center switches fare very well in terms of performance and reliability. When looking and talking about security, Cisco and Juniper Junos are comparable but Huawei switches lag in terms of security due to various reasons like who owns and controls them.
