Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Routers

  • Cisco ISR 1000 Series
  • Cisco ISR 4000 Series
We have used ISR 4000 series Cisco Routers to internal networks to the WAN networks. These Cisco Routers are capable running in traditional IOS-XE mode and SD-WAN mode also. The Cisco Routers are used within the Data centers and branches also. The problem that is addressed is the WAN connectivity.
  • Mature with routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP and OSPF
  • SD-WAN Capability
  • IPSEC capability
  • Better throughput
  • Port density
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting capability
  • Better visibility and control of WAN network
  • Stable and robust
  • Future proof
Compatibility is important. Cisco Routers (SD-WAN) can be integration with Catalyst Center and Cisco ACI soloutions. When integrated with Cisco ACI, systems can orchestrate where the hosts are at a moment and redirect traffic accordingly. Without integration this has to be done manually which is not scalable and manageable for customers.
Currently, we have not implemented any security features.
When it comes to enterprise grade routers we only considered Cisco Routers, hence cannot comment on other vendor devices.
  • Cisco 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers (ASR 1000) and Cisco 4000 Series Integrated Services Routers (ISR 4000)
The main reason to go with Cisco Routers is reliability. Other than that most engineers are certified to operate these routers. Other reasons are good technical support, quality community and familiarity/experience within the industry of networking. It is by default product to go with in many situations.

Do you think Cisco Routers delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cisco Routers's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco Routers live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cisco Routers go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Routers again?

Yes

I personally think Cisco Routers really works well with traditional networks. When it comes to SDN (SD-WAN) in our market organizations tend to go with other vendors who offer better security features. From the price point also, Cisco is on the higher side when compared with other vendors. These devices work very well with integration with other Cisco products. And that is a big advantage for customers who already have a good number of Cisco products already deployed.
