We have at our organisation at almost every location a Cisco router. They help with splitting up vlans so we can use the same VLAN at every location so we create a standard. we also use them to facilitate a connection to our HQ and we provide by some locations local internet breakout

Yes so we can use the specific protocol that Cisco uses such as etherchannel standards
