Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Secure Firewall

I have used the firewalls as the manager over Security Engineering to help develop better policies to secure our network. I'm currently the manager over the Network Engineering / Architecture and we are responsible for deploying the firewalls.

Pros

  • fairly simple setup of b2b tunnels
  • IP / QFDN based rules

Cons

  • app based rules
  • deploying solid code
  • less throughput than we were told when we purchased
  • anyconnect works fairly well
we have been able to clean up firewall rules after purchasing other product to provide visability. This has provided better overall security posture.
TAC support is diffecult to engaged and it is painful to get to next level support.
We use VPN and use syslog to send information to our SIEM for troubleshooting and visability.
